2024-09-23 at 4:37 PM UTCSometimes when I can’t sleep I lay awake and contemplate the great mysteries of life like why aren’t there more cemeteries when there are so many dead people (separate thread, but I mean srsly) and why are most mass shootings committed by young adults at schools?
I haven’t looked at stats so do NOT yell at me bitch or I will do a shoot but it seems like this is typically the case with the exception of the occasional bombing or Mandalay Bay.
Tbh I’m way more angry as an adult than I was as a kid and I was taking some heat, but I don’t remember giving a fuck. Like oh ok my Mom hits me sometimes but she also does my laundry and Jim Bob (names changed to protect the not so innocent) told everyone I sucked his dick in the 7/11 bathroom but he also said I taste like mangos so imma let these things slide. But now I got real shit to be pissed about and I’m not gonna take a gun to my place of work and yell surprise. Oh the humanity.
Why doesn’t this happen tho? It cannot be purely developmental bc people are crazy at any age. -

Back in the day you could just fist fight it out or take it out on someone smaller and weaker than you. Nowadays there’s not as many outlets and it pushes young men to the extreme.
I don’t know why this is a new concept though. The 70’s and 80’s saw extensive bombing campaigns through various prolific figures and groups, and the 40’s and 50’s and 60’s also saw a lot of n extreme political violence.
I think generally as a society we don’t get more or less violent, our means of violence as well as the frequency snd intensity simply shifts.
But that’s just my 2 cents -

Great thread, I hope to expand on some of the points. So the prefrontal cortex doesn't develop in men until their 20s. Often this is linked to judgement and long-term ANALyzation. They lack the ability to see long term plans, futures, or even 5-10 years along their lifeline. THis often causes short term decisions such as murder.
Schools are targeted because they are mass population centers by which they can inflict a large amount of damage, this is coupled with the fact they are much more familiar with these places than say like a concert or a parade or something. Schools also meet every week day most of the year and generally contain at least some of the people they hold responsible for making their life not worth living.
So they attack these soft targets without long term reasoning skills developed and inflict murder rampages with high numbers due thte sheer mass of unarmed people with no military or emergency training. It Also has a greater effect, the murder of innocent children, than targeting any other demographic except jedis, which are of course holier than any goy.
As for cemeteries that's much more simple. We rebuild over them and no one says anything. This is especially true in Europe and Asia where people have become increasingly cramped. The government tries to do alternatives like cremation and shit but at the end of the day they put up a rock that says SOme Dead Nigga 1993-2065 above my corpse well after 200 years that rock looks like shit, no one remembers or cares about me, and the whole thing is kinda irrelevant and a moot point, sot hat space is typically just built over or the bodies exhumed, put in the dump and the plots reused (Unless you got money)
See people think like oh I bought this graveyard plot at Mercy Catholic Cemetery and think like what? that 10x4 foot piece of real estate is going to exist as their corpses property for the next 10,000 years? 2. hormones and brain development don't really stabilise until 25 or so in men
3. cultural lack of discipline and impulse control compounds the issue, and gets worse with every generation
4. extreme individualism leads to self-centred thinking, almost sociopathy-lite, the NPC meme is a harbinger
5. popularisation of 'gang culture' in media transforms every conflict into a life and death situation; where you might expect a fight over status you instead get a retarded chain of one-upmanship until someone dies -

I agree with the first part but not so much this
kids typically shoot up their own schools because they feel victimised by them personally, not just because they're easy targets. outside of fringe cases they'll usually try to shoot up people that bullied them, teachers that didn't take their complaints seriously etc -
