I don't think you understand that people don't get maximum sentences in the majority 90%+ of cases. Generally they are given a initial confinement then a probationary period.
If they give you the maximum you go to prison and then you are released with no parole or probation, they don't want that. They want to integrate you back into communities by guiding you on a path of working and contributing meaningfully until you're finally released from supervision period.
So someone that commits a very serious offense like let's say bankrobbery will do 10 years in prison (or something) and then 10 years on probation. Could they have gotten 20? Yes but why would they do that? They want to work people back into society not just have them do hard time. The only time this isn't the case is when murder is concerned or big federal indictments where the person is given Life or the death penalty.
And yes I do have priors but it was for DUIs and selling drugs, nothing violent, nothing abusive, nothing hurting anyone.
And I know YOU don't believe me because the media reported that I just did this out of no where but when the judge reviewed the court evidence the witnesses couldn't make a matching story in their statements.

the dog owner said he didn't see what happened when his dog ran towards me
1 lady said my dog was attacked by the other dog but it wasn't that serious

My vision is starting to heal I think, I stopped drinking, stopped smoking cigarettes, I"m off the drugs, I got accepted into my BA program for free, I graduated with honors for this semester with my associates degree. I feel happy. I gained some weight.
I started praying again and I Feel healthy. So was this awful? yeah it still is.
Am I doing the best to make something of myself so I can find employment and get off welfare and live a stable, good life for me and my dog? Yea So that's good.
I'm trying to do better, Wozny. And it's not easy but this is the goal in punishment, rehabilitation. Take some piece of shit loser who is contributing nothing to life or society, give him tight leash, rules, constraints and make him do right. Till doing right becomes naturally and then later let him go and hopefully he maintains the same trajectory to a good life. -

However you admitted to doing it and you didn't change the fact that the system is broke and too liberal with repeat offenders. You also stated you would do it again as if you gave 0 fucks of the outcome.
