Yeah I think that's it, as I said the initial blurb said get up to 40% of everything you've spent on steam back but we know that's not gonna happen, they'll settle for less. I think it's too late to sign up now though (at least the one I'm on which I signed up for 2yrs or so ago).

Because they have an iron grip on the PC gaming market? I'm surprised everyone doesn't have one. I don't know how I played games for years while being actively locked out of my account which was not easy to get back and I don't have a large library of games at all.

I always thought it was bullshit when stores stopped carrying PC game physical disks and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did and now steam owns everything and it's either use them or nobody

My mom has a steam account. I told her it's the only way to play games, don't even bother trying any other method just get steam it will make your life much easier. Sometimes the only option in a given market is always the worst option

Non sequitur, that's like asking why a 50yr old has a netflix account or a youtube account or a tiktok account etc etc...Also I wasn't 50 when I signed up anyway.

Vinny doesn't have a fridge let alone a gaming PC. It's just another way his rage at not living a western lifestyle manifests itself.

I estimate steam owns about 60% of the Chinese PC gaming market, maybe 20% more or less but that is one company that hasn't been booted from China and probably never will. I don't know what the domestic Chinese PC gaming market looks like. I'm guessing a bunch of illegal stores selling pirated copies of games with fake box art for 50% price

But eventually they will control everything and it's impossible to compete with them. Also unlike most red tape monopolies Steam doesn't use regulations to control the market but uses entirely market forces. Gabe Newell is a damn slick devil and he's rotten to the core I just know it. Will Gabe Newell become more powerful than Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos? Perhaps.

    I wonder why....

By joining a Steam Family, each member gains access to the following Steam features:

    Family Sharing

When you join a Steam Family, you automatically gain access to the shareable games that your family members own and they will also be able to access the shareable titles in your library. The next time you log in to Steam, this new 'family library' will appear in the left column as a subsection of your games list. You maintain ownership of your current titles and when you purchase a new game it will still show up in your collection.

Best of all, when you are playing a game from your family library, you will create your own saved games, earn your own Steam achievements, have access to workshop files and more.

Family Sharing enables you to play games from other family members' libraries, even if they are online playing another game. If your family library has multiple copies of a game, multiple members of the family can play that game at the same time. For a more detailed look at how Family Sharing works, see the FAQ below.

Family Sharing is a feature that developers may opt their games out of for technical or other reasons at any time. Visit the Steam Store to see a list of games that currently support Family Sharing.
