Selling my vintage computer collection
-
2024-08-29 at 11:57 AM UTCI've listed most of it on vcf19's classifieds.
The person in charge of posting my ad left off one computer and then emailed me saying he wanted it.
I got a good bit listed.
I'll be happy if I sell even a couple things. -

That was my very 1st computer. If I recall it has a Z80 processor running at around 0.9 Mhz with 4k of memory and some sort of motorola VGD chip for graphics that was 256x?.with what? A 16 color pallet?
I remember the pixels were so large you could count them with the naked eye. I bought the 16k memory expansion deal. Oh man loading from cassette. The next year I got a TRS 80 COCO II and thought I was hot shit with ROM packs and a dual 5½" FDD and a 900 BAUD accoustic modem.
That was 1983, the 1st year compuserve opened for the consumer market. Text based "internet". I believe it was more like a WAN with access to things like a "CB" channel, which was like IRC but a different protocol. They had some ASCII games and some sort of general reference "library". I'm sure there was more but at that time I was more into learning BASIC and Pascal so, while I'm sure they had more I don't recall what?
Anyhow cool find from a nostalgic sense but not really that useful TBH. -

I like to tinker with old computers, add extra internal memory, SD card solutions, video out modifications etc. Most of the fun I get from my old computers isn't so much using them but fixing them/fixing them up. -

That looks to be in surprisingly good condition, even the manual and the box
That picture brought memories of Christmas 1983 flooding back. The girl I was living with managed a local Radio Shack and stole one for me for Christmas. -

2024-09-03 at 2:47 PM UTCBy the time we moved to N.C. and she left the company we had over 10k in hi end Realistic stereo components, all free. People still scoff at Realistic. While that is a fair assessment of their low to mid priced equipment, the high end stuff was all rebranded Pioneer.

2024-09-03 at 3:11 PM UTCWould have loved to mooched around an old 1950s-1980s Radio Shack store, by the time I got here they were pretty crappy.
There is an independent store here in Houston called EPO (Electronic Parts outlet) which IS what I'd imagine an old radio shack might be like...you can get pretty much anything from there re: Electronic/Electrical components, tools, kits etc.
