Noncery isn’t cool, and wariat deserves public execution, but honestly it’s kinda hard for me to get behind AoC laws philosophically. Children can go to jail, they can enter into various legal agreements (sometimes requiring parental consent), they can be emancipated and can initiate legal proceedings. We don’t act like teenagers at least are incapable of consent or rational behavior in most arenas, it’s unclear to me why sex is special.
And again, I’m not saying a 15 year old girl eating wariat out is ok. That’s very very fucked. But the state doesn’t safeguard kid’s decision making in most other arenas, and we have a real hard on for bodily autonomy of people (especially young women) over the age of 18, so I’m kinda unsure on what principle that moral intuition does a 180 for people who are younger.

I mean you could just argue that maybe children shouldn’t be able to enter into certain legal agreements or be treated as adults criminally.

Having age of consent tied to laws based on national soveirenty is a recipe for evil and disaster, the results of which are being played out in society in real time.
Wariat is right that in Victorian times these morals were not based upon national law but instead natural law based on God (of which the right of individuals is derived from, not the State) But ever since the separation of not only Church and State but Church and Society that has placed sexual morality into the realm of legal morality based upon the state.
It makes no sense why you can fuck a 14 year old and marry them in France but in Poland that's illegal. In the long past all of this stuff would be in the realm of Church, not national borders or laws of the state. It's funny how noncing or sexualization of children or public displays of fetishes never became widespread until after this changed in society
Also this does not seem to be nearly as much of a problem in third world countries where their laws are mostly cultural in nature reflecting the culture of the region I.e Shariah dowry marriage laws.
This is entirely a phenomenae of modern society. In tribal village society you would just be killed by a community by the local tribal village police for dishonoring a family. In modern western society we must have a debate on weather or not it's moral to fuck a 16 year old or not.
