Saw these beauties listed on marketplace a couple days ago.
Advertised as working and asking $300 for both.
This afternoon I lost my self control and reached out to the seller.
I thought surely they'd be gone but to my astonishment they were both still there.
It was going to be a 75 minute drive each way and I really didn't expect much so I shot a low ball offer of $200 for both and after a few minutes my offer was accepted and I was on my way to rescue them.
The seller was really nice.
She said they were in the upstairs of the house when they moved in 4 years prior and she even had a bunch of floppies. -

Been a while since I've seen some floppydisks. -
2024-08-05 at 12:33 AM UTCTIL the "save" icon on most computers is a floppy (a relic of the past) but most zoomers of today assume it's a Gameboy Color. Because you "save" your game onto a Gameboy game directly

2024-08-05 at 4:24 PM UTCNice find, it's getting harder and harder to find vintage computer stuff in the wild, at least near me it is.
-
2024-08-05 at 10:49 PM UTCIt's also getting harder and harder to find a good quality stone axe or arrowhead.

2024-08-05 at 11:07 PM UTCThe 8088 clone boots right up.
I have no idea what I'm doing or how to do what I'm not doing though.
The 5150 seems to be haunted.
Sometimes I flip the power on and it does nothing while other times it turns on.
Then it either fucked up trying to post and gives me a "CHECK PARITY 2" error or it does nothing (with a boot disk)
If I take the boot disk out it either does nothing or it posts and brings me to some screen idk what the fuck im doing.
I know how to fix the error though.
Imma start with that.
I know the 5150 came from a grocery store and so did the monitor.
Idk the background on the clone. -
