   The grinder screen has disintegrated and is almost entirely hash. The metal crumbles if put under too much force. I don't think this screen functions as a screen for passing particles anymore but it does work well for scraping hash

   Sounds like it's time for a new grinder.
   
   If the mesh is ever the only problem and you want to do a cheap replacement, you can get something like the link below, cut out an appropriately sized piece but a tad bit bigger, then fold the edges up. Simply drop the new mesh in after cutting out the old one and you'll be golden.
