That's fantastic! I'll have to download a copy of that software ASAP. Let me know how your progress is. I'd like to hear your ideas on how to articulate the system of meaning. I've designed servitor tarot, but never held it in my hands or seen it before my eyes like that. Good work. -

Welcome to the wonderful world of DavisWARE! This program is one of many
DavisWARE programs that are available for BBS's and programmer's alike. Take
a look at the file DWARE.DOC for a complete list of all the files that are
available if you find this one to be useful. This door was written using
the DWDOOR version 1.2 door library for PowerBASIC v2.10f also released by
DavisWARE.
TAROT HISTORY
-------------
The Complete Tarot Door stems from a program written by me long ago called The
Tarot's Celtic Cross Door. In my efforts to maintain the best quality BBS
doors and programs around, this is the update to that program. And I must
say, a long awaited one. Since release of that first program, many doors have
sprung up that look like it. Showing that there is some kind of interest in
the subject and urging me to make the tarot (pronounced taro) available in
it's many complexities.
In a tarot deck there are 78 cards. The Major arcana consist of 22 cards and
the Minor arcana contains 56 cards of four different suits (Cups, Swords,
Pentacles, and Wands). Our modern day card deck stems from the Minor arcana.
Reading of the tarot cards dates back as early as 1390 A.D. in medieval
France. Reading of the tarot requires much interpretation but I have
attempted to do so in this program.
DOOR OPERATIONS
---------------
To run CTAROT on your system is simple. The command your use on the command
line will contain the name of the program plus the CFG file to use:
C:\> CTAROT CTAROT.CFG
You'll find an example of a CFG file in this archive. Use MAKECFG to edit it
or make an new one for you. You can get help by typing...
C:\> CTAROT ?
on the command line. You will be given complete instructions on how to use
this program and afterwords you will be asked if you wish to enter the program
in LOCAL mode. If you just want to run the program in LOCAL mode from the
command line, just type...
C:\> CTAROT
at the command line.
PROGRAM EXECUTION
-----------------
The program introduction screen will appear, and it will load in the data
necessary for program operation. Next your will be given a brief list of
rules that the program requires in asking questions (they will only be
displayed once to the user) then you can ask your question. It can be
anything you wish to know about the future. After asking your question you
will be given a choice of 5 different card layouts; 7 Pointed Star, 21 Card
Spread, The Circular Spread, The Horseshoe Layout, or The Celtic Cross
formation. Each spread is good for a different reason, each spread has a
different interpretation. Some require a signifier card. If one is required,
you will be asked for the signifier card to use in the spread (a list will be
given with full explainations). Afterwords you will be asked if you wish to
see the full tarot layout as the cards are interpreted. The screen will look
