I just mispoke and forgot to throw in American.
You ever read the novel or watch the movie? Brett Easton Ellis wrote it. I listen to the audio book but the movie was pretty close. I still have a hard time understanding the ending. Like did he imagine everything or not. Wont ruin it for you -

The whole premise of the movie is symbolic of the psychotic nature of people becoming that "office" guy when going to work in an office setting. Trying to act like a perfect version pf yourself by constantly virtue signalling and having to jump on that whole corporate circle jerk. Like living a double life, which will always inevitably fall apart. This is shown at the end when you're not shown whether he actually murdered anyone or was just imagining it, like he was only a psycho in his head, and at certain times, symbolic of work/non-work hours. Then we're left wondering if there are really two versions of him, which there is with the corporate mask, see the lawyer/bar scene. I'm pretty sure the first scene where he pulls off the gel mask is symbolic.
Also its the disillusionment of the American dream and how you end up selling your mind and soul to get it.
Also is a nod to the seven deadly sins too

2024-07-08 at 10:57 PM UTCI like the Narc and his stories about shitheads outside his front door yelling and running up and down the hall of his apartment and how he wanted to take one of them by the head and smash it between the door and door jam.
or maybe that was someone else in the UK who said that -
