there was a free game announced during the summer game fest, it looked like an old school PC tactical game and it was free. I'll have to find that shit it actually looked cool and i was like OH I WILL REMEMBER THIS AND DOWNLOAD IT LATER.... 1 month later i can't rememebr what it is
the problem with the current indy game community is greedy game develoeprs. they dont realize making games for free is good for them as it will give them brand recognition for future titles especially if they make three hour long games which should all be free.
I mean if they charge $10-#30 for a game of that caliber I don't mind. I just picked up 2 indie games made by solo devs for about $15 each, both about the same length. There are a lot of good free indie's out there but not on steam really, and not really newer games.
A lot of the decent developers in the scene have already made games for free so long ago that new people need to get into it. There are lots of really cool projects but they get funding easily these days. The indie community is pretty good at finding value so the games don't stay free for long. Even adult flash games are becoming funded studios these days
