So as many of you know I haven't had a drink in half a year. I never was big into the drugs, but I do them too. Anyway, I haven't done shit in six or seven months and I've noticed I no longer enjoy music.

Before I loved to listen to patriotic music like the shit the militia listens to and gangster rap.

Now that I am sober I don't enjoy them. Occasionally I get a jingle stuck in my head from a commercial or hearing it in passing but like I can't sit down and listen to a Gucci mane album from front to back. Even when I try to listen to some of my old favorites I find them extremely stale and unenjoyable.

Have any of you noticed this?

as one who knows you actually had a drink in less than the last half year. Every day without a drink is an achievement.

Certain drugs make music very profound, when I first started smoking weed at 14 a blunt, my headphones and Bone E. 1999 Eternal was like a spiritual experience. I totally understand, being sober makes life in general very underwhelming but no matter what I've always loved music even the short periods I've had of total sobriety has kind of made me look for deeper meanings and metaphors in songs I've never noticed. It might help to expand your tastes and try listening to shit you regularly wouldn't.

    maybe your tastes change

when you're drunk you just want something catchy with a beat, when you're not you want something with more depth or emotional weight

I like music when I’m sober, but pot makes it 100x better.

I'm sober all the time. And I listen to music a lot. I don't like being on something. I prefer being sober. By far.

    House music.

You're already a raving bender so you might aswell listen to the tunes to go along with it.

OP: you're describing anhedonia. One of many symptoms of alcohol recovery. And yes, it can last a long time. You could try Wellbutrin or something similar, or you could just be patient and pat yourself on the back for being so strong and consistent.
