   You should not keep company with ne'er-do-wells to begin with, and if you should find yourself in the company of such people by some act of happenstance you should maintain your loyalty to society first and foremost. Your friend is a part of that society too, and if he has gone astray then he needs correction so he can continue being a part of that greater whole.
   
   And if you can't do it for society, do it for your friend. Letting your friend commit crimes is like letting your friend fatally OD. It sucks getting hit with narcan, it sucks being arrested, but criminality is fatal to the soul like fentanyl is fatal to the body. 😤
