Georgians says no to Russian law
-
2024-04-16 at 9:17 AM UTCIn Tbilisi, #Georgia people sing songs and wave #EU flags πͺπΊ
The atmosphere outside the Georgian Parliament building right now, as crowds of thousands of protesters remains on Rustaveli Avenue.
Citizens are burning torches,Β chanting "No to Russian law!"
And "This is a peaceful protest!"
β As the pro-russian 'Georgian Dream' party again attempts to implement the 'Russian Law', a controversial 'foreign influence' censorship bill that will silence dissidents.
It would crush Georgia's hopes of joining the #EuropeanUnion and a better #Future - and draw the nation further into the clutches of Moscow.
Georgians now face the dilemma that #Ukraine faced in 2013:
Either violently overthrow Putin's puppets,
Or face increasingly brutal tyranny and oppression.
β Stand tall, Georgia!

Originally posted by aldra Western media is calling the Georgian government 'pro-Russian', in reality there hasn't been much of a 'pro-Russian' element since before the war in 2008. They're just profoundly corrupt and willing to take money from anyone; they're doing the multi-vector thing.
What they're rioting about at the moment is a new law that forces NGOs to disclose their funding, specifically foreign funding and any of them that take more than 20% from foreign sources go on a FOREIGN AGENTS list. The media is saying it's almost the same as the Russian foreign agent laws that came in a few years back, which it is, but it's also very close to the US FARA designation system.
Pretty much just western NGOs whipping up unrest because these laws threaten their influence, a lot like the 2014 riots in the Ukraine -
