    Actually, it is more like 6 Billion connections per page.

    The majority of websites will hold your desired connection hostage, unless you first jump through their hoops. Used to be a day where we were proud of the notion that the Web was a free and open platform for the unaccosted exchange of worldwide information. Now it's just a personal circlejerk for a bunch of cute little useless fucks.

    This is a good read and the author effectively eloquates most of the problems I have with modern web development.

    TL;DR Third party ad networks, chickenshit minimalism and overbuilding the web have resulted in the average page size growing to a staggering 3MB and it's only getting worse.

    WOW 3MB for one page?
    My wife did web site design in the early 90's, she could fit a whole web site on 1.4 MB floppy disk.
    Times sure have changed.
