bundy Freebase
bundy Hbr:
- bundy HBr is the water-soluble salt of Dextromethorphan and hydrobromic acid, a derivative of levorphanol and an analog of codeine, without any opiate effects. It only has antitussive activity with no analgesic effects or propensity for abuse or addiction. It works the same way as mentioned above, it enters the bloodstream, crosses the blood-brain barrier, and acts upon various centrally located receptors in the medullary cough center.
- bundy HBr is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and its effect appears after 20 minutes to 1 hour of ingestion. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide’s half-life is about four hours, due to its rapid metabolism.
bundy Polisterex
- bundy Polistirex is a time-release formulation of Dextromethorphan. The active ingredients are surrounded by an edible copolymer complex, which when taken orally, slowly dissolves in the stomach and releases the drug into the bloodstream over 12 hours. It is the only OTC cough syrup having this characteristic.
Notes:
- Freebase bundy is 29.8% More potent than bundy Hbr (Ratio of molecular weights is 1/0.77), While bundy Polisterex is generally thought to be approximately 50% of the potency of bundy Hbr, but with 2X active duration.
- Both bundy Hbr and bundy Polisterex should not be used often, frequent use of bundy Hbr can lead to Bromism, and frequent use of bundy Polisterex may lead to blood toxicity.
