Yeah everyone's trying to regulate their competition away; of course the 'ethical' rules won't apply to the states that enforce them.
China in particular though I suspect will become a haven for it so long as you don't cause problems for the state - opioids are illegal as shit ever since the Opium Wars but they have no problem with factories mass-producing fentanyl analogues so long as it's only for export.
the models themselves aren't necessarily tied to state boundaries though, the physical processing power is so that's what they'll have the most success regulating

2023-11-08 at 2:42 AM UTCa lot of this is meant to 'combat deepfakes', but if governments or groups outside of their control are able to rapidly create fake media that's indistinguishable from real recordings, it's going to have the same effect as it would if the capability were widespread - people stop trusting videos, audio, photos etc.
which I think is interesting - how do people determine what is real anymore? will it be like the middle ages, where peasants were trapped in their own bubbles that extended a few kilometres in any direction, and the only people they even had access to who could read were the local priests? -

They have a bunch of community distributed computing hivemind AI processing things that everyone hooks up to and trains these custom hacked GPT-4chan nigger models that say hitler jokes and generate flawless pixel perfect lolicon and gore
I don't think the government can really do anything at this point but that's not gonna stop NVIDIA from putting back doors in their chips to prevent people from using their processors for harmful purposes like running killbots

it's pretty frightening. IBM just sucessfully created a fusion reactor apparently in Livermore near San Jose at Lawrence Livermore and now they sucessfully finished a Quantim Computer they were working on for 60 years. i see this being done (if it already hasn't been) with some kind of lab mixed in with AI like Terminator shit.
if you havn't seen the movie its kind of worth watching. a bit dated you might think but the Computer reminded me a lot of the Quantum Computer they finished off. same kind of frame design
this movie freaked me out as a kid but I couldn't watch the whole thing when it was free on tv. didn't have the same fear affect on me now that Im an adult but it's also because we're desensitized that this has become real in one sense or another.
the movie looks more real with this photo but then they try and create some demonic looking Octahedron
