Laser weapons have already been on the "battlefield" for years.

What do you think laser guided missles use?

lasers take too long to penetrate metal, especially at a range for it to be viable

even if the missile is ballistic and not spazzing around in random directions it's still moving extremely fast so you'd need extremely precise and responsive servos to keep the dot on it for the few seconds it takes to penetrate. then you have to worry about 'stealth' coatings that make it hard to track with radar, paints that make it hard to track optically, other paints that deflect the light and heat from the laser etc.

laser tech just isn't efficient enough at the moment. Russians are messing around with lasers that destroy/disable optics on aircraft, drones and satellites but frying cameras takes a lot less power than actually penetrating metal

there are no laser on a laser guided missile.

    No one said there was...

The laser on the aircraft or other unit guides the missile..that's still a laser weapon on the battlefield dumbo.

so if the aircraft uses radio frequency to guide the missile your gonna call it a radio weapon eh.

Vinny being unaware of Radio guided bombs

The "Fritz X" (or PC 1400 X) was a 3,450-pound armor-piercing bomb fitted with a radio receiver and control surfaces in the tail. It was intended for use against heavily armored ship or ground targets. When dropped from 20,000 feet, an altitude above the most effective anti-aircraft defense, it could penetrate about 28 inches of armor. Aided by flares in the bomb's tail, the bombardier could follow its fall after release and could send radio signals, which moved the control surfaces and produced minor changes in the bomb's course.

drone jammers could be called radio weapons

dunno if HERF or scalar 'guns' ever actually worked

so if those bombs have optical tracking tgey become optical weapons ?

    ok.

someone is going to get blinded and sue Israel or America for using them because they violate the Geneva convention of bio-chemical weaponry.

Lights is a photon and that's stimulating air around it which causes gas which is chemical. BOOM

You will be charged with war crimes.

I know they are but they're going to change the game all together. they'll just make material that deflects the light and cant be penetraded so it's only use at this point is to try and maybe blow up an incoming space rock because Hail-Mary Blue deflects laser somehow.

Hawaii everything that survivde was a "Hail Mary Blue"
