Would hanging yourself be painful?
-
2017-06-01 at 1:32 AM UTCI see why so many hang themselves but wouldn't your neck snapping hurt like mudafucka even if it is a second? Maybe not if you get shitfaced first.

2017-06-01 at 1:35 AM UTCIf you do a long drop, then you break your neck and die instantly. A short drop, however, is intended to suffocate you, and that can be somewhat uncomfortable and mildly painful during the middle portion of it but then it gets better pain-wise and then you die.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

2017-06-01 at 1:35 AM UTCYou need a pretty decent fall to have your neck snap i would reckon. The worst part in my opinion would be the choking.

2017-06-01 at 2 AM UTCSomewhat related, a guy actually decapitated himself by tying a rope to a fire hydrant and then driving off full speed in a van: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2860951/Man-DECAPITATES-tying-rope-neck-attaching-fire-hydrant-driving-van.htmlThe following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

Back in the olden times, people would occasionally get decapitated from long-drop hangings too. -
2017-06-01 at 3:44 AM UTCYeah the weight of a person can change how shit goes down too. Really large, overweight people definitely would have a more... Gruesome death, than a smaller sized person. I heard about them hanging a very obese man (it was I think during the Salem Witch Trials) and they hung the dude and pretty much, almost decapitated him. He choked as the rope cut into his neck... Really fucked up shit, if you ask me. I would have wanted to be him for sure... But honestly, in the great scheme of things there are worse ways to die even with those... Hiccups occurring, and especially worse ways people were tortured and killed during those witch trails.

2017-06-01 at 3:54 AM UTCAlthough it would be ideal to have your neck snap in the drop, I can't imagine suffocating is all that bad either. It wouldn't take very long for you to lose consciousness, at which point you'd cease to feel/be aware of pain.

2017-06-01 at 3:59 AM UTCI was in jail once when the very first morning after me being there , while we're all waiting in line for breakfast , some guy decides it's a good time to wrap sheets around and his neck, tie them to the upper tier railing, and jump off.
He didn't die, people held him up after a few seconds, he ruined our appetite, and he was only looking at 2 years. Obviously I wish he would've died so I could've gotten an extra breakfast tray. -

It's actually very interesting about how historically inaccurate your views of me have been given our limited interactions.
You know what I mean? You obviously know about my obvious things that I've explicitly posted like my restaurant work history and trouble with law, but you have referred to me as a hardcore junkie though I've never been heavy on JUNK in my life. Haha.
My point is I've loved psychopathological anything, since teh womb. Thank you. ™ -
2017-06-01 at 4:53 AM UTCI saw this video of a syrian chick hang herself with a short fall. Shit lasted a good 3 minuets before she lost consciousness. Probably took even longer for her to actually experience brain death.
If you plan on killing yourself do yourself a favor and build yourself a gallows. It would be classy and perhaps now that you have a newfound passion for woodworking you might not want to do the suicide. -

Or at the very least you would leave behind a nice donation to the community. -

I'd probably make a guillotine if I was gonna start building shit. -
2017-06-01 at 4:58 AM UTCI really wonder why people would ever chose to hang themselves , especially in an unsure manner where the potential to not die or die a VERY painful death are going to be the very likely outcomes.
With all my heart, I don't get it. My only conclusion is those who hang themselves, INTENTIONALLY AND WITH THE TRUE DESIRE TO DIE, either do it from an obstacle where they KNOW they will have their neck snapped, or they .. so strangely, morbidly, want to experience death by choking and spasming to death.
That seems comparable to drowning to me I hate thinking about dying that way. D -

That would be pretty dope too but in reality gillys arent as reliable as they would have you think. At least if you use conventional blueprints. The blade has a tendency to get caught or not have enough momentum. Id say use garage door rail and high quality bearings to rectify this. -
2017-06-01 at 5 AM UTC^^^^^ Rope is easy to find, I was considering suicide awhile ago, I figured getting a tank of nitrogen from a welding supply was best.

You cant forget that the available materials are a factor. Like for a prisoner its pretty easy to use shoe laces or a bed sheet or something to hang themselves. -
