I got bored after a couple hours. I’m gonna wait a few years when there’s a fuck load of stable mods and all the DLC is out then I might do a full run.

Yeah. This is like am open beta for the mindblowing game we'll have a year or two from now. I still enjoy it, but man the lack of the creation kid is killing me.

Also I've played through the first bit of the game so many times that I want to kill myself, and I will probably not play it again after this playthrough until there's an alternate start mod or *something*. I'm really hype for the release of the creation kit. If I have to go to the fucking Sol system and track down Vanguard Moara's ass one more fucking time I'm going going to explode.

    Why?

It took me multiple restarts and a couple years before I finally finished vanilla Skyrim but the ideal experience is ultra-modded

I had it on game pass, and restarted my character a few times (first time I felt like I missed content, then I wasn't satisfied with how I'd been RPing the character I was playing, and finally I got increasingly annoyed with the companions the game foists upon you and decided I wanted to do Bad Shit without them). I played a bit more with each subsequent playthrough, but the Vanguard Moara questline is something each playthrough had in common. It forces you to take the snooty British cunt from Constellation with you everywhere so she can incessantly bitch about how many things you're carrying and is kinda the final gate to progression before the game really 'opens up' - it's basically Starfield's version of the Bleak Falls Barrow/Whiterun Dragon Attack segment of Skyrim.

Now I've purchased it on Steam because the game pass/"Xbox for Windows" version is most likely never going to be compatible with the Starfield Script Extender. This necessitated a new save. So yet another fucking trek into Bleak Falls Barrow. And don't get me wrong: Bleak Falls Barrow is great! The first time. It's not so great you'd boot up Skyrim and play through that portion of the game 4ish times in the span of 6 weeks and enjoy it though. It quickly becomes busywork.

(The Script Extender will be a vital dependency for the best mods that end up coming out, just like it was for Skyrim and New Vegas etc etc. There aren't too many dependent ones right now because the creation kit isn't out, but playing a Bethesda game on a platform that won't have full mod compatibility is a waste of time/money.)

If not an alternate start mod, please: a mod that makes Sarah non-essential so I can gun her down the first time she sarcastically quips about the fact that I'm overencumbered.

Just download a mod that makes your encumberance x9000

It’s 2023 who fuckin cares about inventory management

Does it improve your experience to sift thru a menu and figure out what weighs the most and what isn’t essential for u to be carrying at this moment?

I'm not completely averse to cheating (I have been playing pretty fast and loose with the console commands this playthrough), but idk... I like how Starfield changed up encumbrance. You can still run when you're over-cucumber'd! It's a huge improvement over Skyrim and the like. Bethesda already killed inventory management - now you can just carry 2 metric tons of shit and focus on O2 management instead. That's great! It's a simple, immediate mechanic with a short loop instead of picking through your inventory looking for the shit with the best weight-value ratio. I honestly don't mind the system as it is.

It's just certain companions' dialog when you pick up items while in an over-encumbered state is incredibly grating. It'd be one thing if they only said something the first time you picked an item up and became over-encumbered, but instead they quip some irritating fucking sarcastic remark every other time you pick something up for the entire duration of your over-emcumbrance. I have no problem being overencumbered, it barely slows me down, but my companions are always saying some dumb ass shit about it and that's what pisses me off.

Like: BETHESDA, YOU MADE BEING OVER ENCUMBERED SO MUCH LESS INCONVENIENT! OF COURSE I'M OVER-ENCUMBERED. Why are my choices "being forced into a slow walking animation, but the NPCs are blessedly chill about it" or "you can sprint and it's actually not a big deal, but the NPCs won't shut the fuck up"?

If I had any talent I would make a mod that does exactly that, and call it SHUT THE FUCK UP. It's probably possible with the tools at our disposal right now, but I ain't know how to use those tools.

I don’t travel with companions anyways I’m a lone wolf

Brings me back to the Moara questline, where I'm forced to have Sarah with me. But yeah, this is an option. They have quests with unique rewards you miss out on tho...

    I want Sam's hat.

Yeah I hate the mission where they force you to travel with the cowboy guy and his retard kid. Like dude I’m never gunna fuck you stop following me

I hate Cora so much ha ha ha ha ha. And Sam is such a mishmash of manliness that it's almost comical - dude's a cowboy and wears a (space)shark tooth necklace.

But I gotta keep him around because he gives you his dope ass cowboy hat after his companion quest.

Ehhh, you need something to reel in looting. Like if you took a beth game and said you have infinite inventory the optimal strategy is to loot literally everything ever. Then you have to either balance for the most tedious play style to the detriment of everyone else, or live with optimal autists fucking up the eco beyond redemption. Also it makes heavy armor the only valid option (oblivion kinda had this issue).

I know “npcs drop their whole inventory on death” is realism and all but mechanically it causes a lot of problems for these games. It messes up the leveled lists, messes up looting, and I feel like a tard lugging around 20 sets of elvish armor just to pawn it off later.

Ive stuck with one character but hes too much like me (ie boring). Im a lovable space scoudrel but i want to hang out with pirates and hookers so i had to pay off their gay bounty so i could keep doing cool piratey shit. You get locked out of a ton of content if you dont play very close to the center- which is also no fun.

On the upside, i tricked out the spaceship i got from the rangers with like 300k worth of top of the line tech and guns, and now i rape everyone in dogfights and extort money from children on field trips

idk i feel like i shouldve rp’d something a bit more specific rather than some bland han solo. Even andreja -whos supposed to be my ride or die lil tiddy goth gf- gets all mopey n shit when I say stuff like “Friends are gay. Only God Can Judge Me. THUG LIFE”. So i gotta say lame stuff like “I appreciate you being so vulnerable. I know that took a lot”. Nigga stfu. Real answer shouldve been “Sorry that stuff happened or im really happy for you? But also i gotta farm some money for my 8th particle beam autoturret sooooooooo…..”

I am the epitome of the most tedious playstyle. For a while i was saving the snowglobes with bugs in them bc i wanted to start a bug collection
