Huh. It's true. Cursory googling reveals both sexes tended to marry in their mid-twenties on average (women a bit younger than men, but still mid-twenties on average). Woulda figured there were more nubile young brides back in ye olden times, but nah.
(That said, the age of consent back then was 12 and had been for hundreds of years. It was raised during the Victorian Era to 13, and then apparently to 16 in 1885. So if folks were hanged for being like wariat - and I kinda don't doubt they were - it wasn't in an official legal capacity. "16 is legal in Poland fuys.") -

Too be fair I never knew that the Age of consent was so low at that time, but then im not wariat who looks for any reason to justify his paedophillic tendencies, I didnt think it would be as low as 12 either.
