   My pops was 16, got in the marines by lying about his age, went in in late 1944 and ended up in a massive battle in Iwo Jima
   
   raised a flag but not in the photo. that was staged. They knew this and he was made an Honor Guard at the forming of the UN in San Francisco before it went to NYC. he's in the paper in 1945. Oct 45
