   It's European heritage day and I did the boring thing and just went to some place that's usually closed, because I know my dad signed his name there. I didn't find my dad's graffiti, there were thousands of names but I'm wondering if some of these are from gravestones? I wonder if I'll ever find my dad's graffiti.    tbf despite how intuitive it is, it's got a really inelegant formula. if i were a physicist and you came to to me with "6x²" i would not accept it. "oh we'll just find the area of one face and multiply it by 6 since there are 6 faces, easy peasy" yeah ok but like that's not the right equation. it works! i'm sure that works! but like... a bit of a kludge, no? find me something beautiful and elegant.
