I used to have a nice fujifilm bridge camera that had about that resolution, and about 40x zoom. It was great, you could zoom right in on things like birds and ships out on the ocean. I used it all a holiday to Greece then forgot it in a rental car cos I hid it under the seat. Needless to say it was never returned. I was pissed off about not having any pictures from most of the places I went to Greece more than anything.
Unless you're a professional, bridge cameras offer the best value for money.
was it the S9000 finepix model? -

No, I think it was a S5800. It would only have had 10x zoom if so. But I remember even that zoom was really impressive.

Now they have some pretty insane zooming going on. Like this Nikon Coolpix camera, which has 125x zoom for $1,000. But you'd need to stabilise it pretty well. -

most cameras that were mirrorless were really expensive a few years ago but you can get a brige camera for like 500 bucks now with attachable but that optic zoom in really close. we have a view of the bridge and city but it's really far away for cameras to capture nicely.
haha I used a pair of 50x binachulars and this cheap micro video cam and took a frame from the video
this is what those crappy binichulars do when attaching them to the cell phones too. plus the fog rolled back in, mid day, white washed out the city. this morning, rare, crisp blue sky, no fog, bridge looked 3x closer than when it's foggy.

2023-08-16 at 9:43 PM UTCthat island in the foreground is Treasure Island where they're building a city on it. it used to be a Navy base but they handed it over to San Francisco so it's San Francisco city limits now but an island that's next to Yerba Buena Island that the Bay Bridge is connected.
I didn't bother with the Golden Gate because it's all fogged in -
2023-08-16 at 9:48 PM UTCThat electrical pole is gonna fuck up the picture anyways no matter what. I think the fog looks nice sometimes, unless you can't see anything at all obviously. Why don't you just drive down to the Marina District?

Because its 7 dollars to cross the bridge into an area I can't even drive into anymore because they're blocking off streets for foot traffic as a "progressive shit hole"
and because the Marina is over-rated and usually fogged in too. and when it's fogged in it might be just that patched area where if you move directly in front from Berkeley the bridge might have some pretty fog pushed into it which makes a nice photo but it also might be completely fog free.
its more haze than fog right now.
its all a matter of perception or perspective views. Im looking for a video I shot last year from the Oakland/Berkeley hills up in Grizzy Peak when the sun was setting. Thousands of people go up there, try and find parking and watch the sun set. it's stunning. most tourist never cross the bridge into Berkeley for the day and have an Uber drive them up to Grizzly Peak, drop them off. and just take an uber back or walk down the hill into Berkeley near the campus and jump on bart back to San Francisco. it's easy walking down but walking up is a 1500 foot climb in about 1 mile which is really effen steep. -
2023-08-16 at 10:13 PM UTCWell bitch take BART. Also Marina is not over-rated. It's lovely and makes better photographs than that shit you just posted.

Well bitch, Bart doesn't go towards North-West San Francisco. its 6-7 miles away
Also are you kidding me? I have some amazing photos I have taken over the years. from the 1980s with the old Minolta Camera I had to some of the first dense 8pix camera that is better than some of the 20-30 mpx of today from early 2000.
Back to the Marina, a long fucking walk or 3 bus rides out there that would take up to 2 hours. You could take bart to Embarcadero, Get off, Take the F-train to Pier 41 and then walk to the marina which is up some steep hills over to Fort mason area and then cut through the park and over to Crissy Fields/Marina district (near where Safeway is) and then over to the Union- East Filmore (after taking photos near the beach) and hit the clubs over there.
hense Waluigi and this photo
Here is a picture of an early test of a Waymo/Cruise .. notice the Car Brand. " Jag, however this photo was taken with from a frame from a dashcam video

no? muni is full of low life scum. i'd rather walk.
F-train is apart of muni but it's a little bit better. the only transportation worth taking. the other thing is the ferry. I can go to Berkeley or Oakland and catch a ferry to Pier 41 and walk from there. it's a nice 45 minute water taxi to the city and then if you don't throw up (I dont have sea legs) its a good walk. stop off at a coffee shop, get a coffee and a muffin and eat it, drink it, walk it, take photos that way if I wanted to. 8 bucks each way -
