2023-08-09 at 4:29 PM UTCA fridge and freezer is very useful. When one of my farmer friends slaughter a cow they give me 10-15 pounds of ground beef, now I could try to eat it all or freeze for later. Same goes for hunters, try eating an entire deer or elk at one setting.

without freezer your farmer friends would have a lot more friends to share his killings, and in in his time of need, he would have 10 times more avenue to get help from.

2023-08-09 at 5:10 PM UTCmy understanding is old women have nothing to do in Asia, so much of the time they sweep, play on their phone, gossip with other women mostly about men in their lives and each other, and go to the market for something to do once or twice a day. They sell stuff in quantities that is for near immediate consumption, like Quarter pound of dried pork in a baker's cloth or hit with enough salt to not immediate rot, and what we would consider a very large bowl filled with fresh vegetables.
it's a primative way to live, then they come back and take their time making good food.
that might be a sexist/racist thing to say but it's my observation. -
