Is Chicago an OK place to live?

The property is hot right now. Seems people are leaving for Chicago. But Why? 700 murders a year. its onlu 3.5 Million metro. its not small and has amazing buildings from what I hear and see on tv, the winters are shit cold and it's windy and cold (apparently) much of the year round. and Red told me the property tax is the highest in the nation for a large city. Property tax in LA and San Francisco, San Diego etc is between 1.0 to 1.4 depending on the counties. So even though Property cost lots, the property tax is very doable and in a good place for popularity and home purchases to stay high. but in Chicago it's like 3.7 percent. I mean that makes a massive dif

if a property was 100k at 1 percent then it's for the whole year 1k or about 80 bucks a month. so a million is 800 a month. but a 100k in Chicago is about 3700 a year or about 320 a month for every 100k

if you owned even a 500k assest value then thats 1600 plus a month for property tax. if its a condo and ad another 1000 HOA fee (which is about average) you're looking at 2600 dollars on top of your mortgage which is another 2800 a month?

now that's about 5200 a month for owning a home or 10k a month if its closer to a million. who the fuck can afford this? Chinese and Arabs that's who. and they're pouring in.

so it's actually cheaper to live in the state of Cali than other states right now. Only Inner City in Cali are shitted up. the wooded towns are amazing and low crime rate and good life style. you can go to the beach if you drive a few hours west or go and play in the fucking snow in your backyard certain times of the year.

So I ask, Is Chicago a good place to live?

You can really get a feel for a local area when everyone mentions the same places and you are like WHAT IS THIS CAMPING PLACE YOU HAVE ALL BEEEN TOO I FEEL LEFT OUT

It's socially acceptable for white men to molest groups of boys in many latin american countries if they are as rich and powerful as the average american, why not go there and live out your fantasies instead of pretending you want to go see the Trump Tower and stargaze in the smog.

I assume the suburbs candy is talking about is kinda like how it is in Toronto where you have DOWNTOWN TORONTO and the hoods in the inner city but during the day to day most people I talk to out and about don't live anywhere near the city and commute quite a bit

I know it's also common in the BART area of california and pparently Baltimore , maryland, Annapolis that entire region is the same deal

You see it a lot in these oldje economic hubs that have had settlements and high population since colony days, out west its a totally different scene, I lived in a rural area and people would do X_weeks on X_weeks off type work or travel a lot, or you go back and forth between cities, districts on a semi regular basis

Like I knew a guy that got his kids every other weekend which worked out cuz he worked in that city and his schedule was set up so he could pick up his kids as he's going to the other city to work and drops them off, works at another office, goes home, then goes back to that office in another city (a few hours drive on the highway not fun in winter) and does that year round

Really nice homes for sale in Napperville. really pretty area. i mean it's beautiful in the bay area in many areas. but the more woodsy area's of San Fran Bay the more it cost. the Oakland Hills and San Mateo county are insanely priced. the cheapest homes are hovering 2mil for small 3 bed 2 baths and they go up into the double digits.

the techies in the pennisula and Silicon Valley area (which Silicon is basicly the southern part of Penn and the South Bay combined, can reach 100 million now).

but because property is worth so much, more and more neighborhoods are getting bought up by wealthy people or big families that live in one house and pull money together. Mexicans and chinese do this. then slowly move into another house and everyone pays for the mortgage on that and they divide the families of siblings and cousins. White people would murder each other before doing that. Eurpean culture in the US or Euro Mutts of the US are just too independent and its got to the point of not being able to buy a home and work collectively. that's not communism because the end is people work and not collect hand outs or wait till mommy and daddy die and leave their wealth behind.

its scarey times. thats why I suggest friends pull funds together, split a home and then buy fixer uppers and own the homes collectively but slowly have a home for each other and then perhaps do a buy out.

The condos at the leaning Millenial tower is 10 million and they might be forced to knock it down but some people are still selling their condos for a discount of like 7 million to people willing to roll the dice. its fucking nuts.
