The Truth requires a kind of extrasensory perception. No, I don't mean you need to be psychic. What I'm saying is you can't see it, smell it, touch it, hear it, or taste it - it can only be experienced directly by way of their indirect aid. The Senses are vital to generate the Keys, the Context, the Landmarks, the things that let you navigate to and unlock and understand truth, but they cannot arrive at it themselves. It must be sensed cognitively, not physically. Cognition, or perhaps predictive ability, is a sense... in a sense.

I feel like drug abuse is a central role in my faith because of this but not everyone should physically blood sacrifice themself by taking LSD and jumping off a roof or cutting themselves while crying and high on meth seeing shadow demons turn your door handle and bang on your door when the power goes out

Aum had similar ideas on the other side of the spectrum I think and force dosed people large amounts of LSD, meth and sensory deprivation to destroy their minds. There was another communist Japanese group that operated in a similar way, Asians seem more culturally something to these ideas which makes sense why Christianity and stuff can fit in so well there

Things like meditation and prayer have always felt awkward to me like its a somatic spell you need to perform the ritual and do something in a correct way to align your chakras and each practice has it's own belief on how you do this.
What I found most interesting about Aum is that along with prayer and meditation they engaged in something Trianglism finds sacred which is self abusing alterted states to attain higher statuses of thought and being or even eliminate those things and transcend realms and teleport
They also believed drugs could be used in these processes especially LSD and meth seem to come up a lot which interests me a lot as I have done a lot of those specifically and am interested how they made LSD exactly, my guess is it's not hard for a japanese pharma nerd to order a few hundred G of ergotamine to a Tokyo university chem department.

I do sometimes (or have done before... and probably will again... so... yeah), but generally I prefer smoking. Why? 'cause the big, fat, delicious, clouds of milky white tek vaporz are incredibly satisfying. I like the ritual. Like with smoking cigarettes vs vaping, you know? Smoking it's more social too I guess. Meth is default degenerate, but sitting around in a room with another person and suddenly dropping trou to squirt some dissolved meth into your asshole is on a hole 'nother level.

WHAT MEANS
You just need the physical senses to build a framework with which to cognitively perceive Truth. Think Descartes' "Evil Genius/Evil Demon" (wherein math and logic are the only things you can trust because everything else is illusory demon magic), except... without the demon (hopefully). External sensors are only there to help you gather data that does not contain the Truth anywhere within it.
Metaphor: our lives as lived and experienced with our physical senses are a form of nourishment for the still growing spirit - you can think of the spirit as synonymous with cognition/predictive ability from earlier, and as analogous to a sensory organ. Once you've ingested enough Vitamin S5 (empirical experiences, using your 5 senses) and your spirit is fully grown/healed, you can begin perceiving the Big True True with it. How? By way of analogy, metaphor, comparison, symbolism, and the self-narrativization of existence.
Waves aren't waves. Those waves are just a metaphor maaaaan.

They are not seen with one's eyes, clearly! Otherwise we'd all... see them. Are they Truth? Part of it? Maybe. Half truths. Reflections of truths. Nothing I say is the Truth, because of course it isn't - you're reading. It's data you're gathering with your eyes. The best I can do is hope I say something that helps someone else See; that I can write the words that form the final puzzle piece falling into place in someone else's mental map of existence, their compass rose. -
