I am sure this has been discussed before, too lazy to look it up and if you aren't posting within the next 24hrs your opinion doesn't matter right now anyways

    what say you folx?

    @Lanny

and you get a PM if someone @ + your username

how about this though, it starts off by default because obviously this will be abused. That's easy as fuck to code and I can't think of any reason not to add such a feature but I'm sure lanny would say otherwise

    folkx?

starts off by default , could be easily abused still . Could add a way to make it so you can block @'s from certain people but just trying to code that sounds like a headache already with a little drop down menu or something EEUUUGHH it would not be ideal

I think it would be an interesting dynamic at least to divide the community further between those man enough to keep @'s open and those who close them in cowardice it would be QUITE interesting lol not really but yes thanks for da input

There needs to be an "opt out" option.

Yeah that's not why I'd keep mine off...I'm here for entertainment...I really don't want to read EVERY DAMN @ that vinny's posted while I'm gone or every time Kafka says "you'll never taste the sour milk flavor of my vulva".

Cowardice is a little more involved than that...Like running away leaving your buddy behind in a knife fight.

You might be a coward if you think avoiding something on a forum is cowardice

I mean yeah thinking about it now wariats constant threads would probably wear on my nerves and I would lose it on him more than I do already

that being said, it was a feature that used to exist, maybe my rose tinted nostalgia goggles are screwed on too tight, I think the community is better with no power tripping mods and a lazy admin that errs on doing nothing (he is actually a genius)

For all the bad though, I can see good like if you have something actually important, idk what made me think of this, I can't remember the post but I saw something and I was like oh man I wish I could @ the person, i don't even remember who.
Not even for trolling just a neat meaningless dumb feature that in the big picture means nothing and doesn't do much

waiter bring me another serviette this idea is GOING DEEP
also I am about as motivated to code this as anyone else is so don't expect it to even hit the COMMUNITY PR, just thought I would mention it since we are trying to get a PR together to update the forum code

You realize that you let richardburnish affect you to the point of shitting all over the rest of us users who wanted to make plans for a new site and say our goodbyes or whatever the fuck. Probably the most UN-TUFF response you could have made. The scary part is that you're not able to see that…

Now I'll get back to not giving a fuck.

alternative idea: hard code it so vinny and wariat can't use the feature. Just those 2 are blocked, I think that would reduce most abuse potential right off the bat for the least effort involved on anyones part LOL

pedophiles are second class citizens and need to be treated as such

    Ok that's a good compromise.

yeah we talked about this before, too hard on the database and he's trying to keep it lightweight

so if I figure out a way to do it for "free" it can be added but no clear way exists essentially ?

it's not hard to do but any responsive way to do it would significantly increase the load on the database which slows everything down/increases requirements

I don't think there is any need for it to be very "responsive" like if it was breaking up the request based on server load and shot out packets like p2p of the something kilobit message piggybacking like a mexican in the back of a corn truck with normal traffic, somehow

fuck I don't know anything about computer networking.
