Post the most selfless act you’ve ever witnessed. Since this is the last post I can make today under the 10 post limit here goes.

My mother was diagnosed with MS when I was about 8 years old. She was hospitalized at least twice a year for 10–14 days at a time for as long as I can remember.
Back then they treated the “attacks “ with prednisone.

I don’t remember the year that they came out with a new treatments but remember there was a lot of excitement about how revolutionary it was. There was a lottery to get the medication when it came out. Mom was one of the first to “win” the lottery.

She donated her spot to a young man who had just been diagnosed. She explained that she already had so much damage that was irreparable and that he had a young family and a long life ahead. The medication would have absolutely slowed the progression of her disease but she chose to give it to someone else. She did get the medicine a year or two later. She passed in 2019, but was One of the most heroic, selfless humans I have known. She is my hero!!

My dad comes to mind but I can't recall anything specific and don't want to.

...I once gave up my food money to buy a girl Doc Martens. She thought I was trying to buy her love but really I just cared about her. She later leaked my address in a room full of trolls. I had to put it on the parcels I sent her as a return to get through customs.

Uhhhh I guess some family members of mine come to mind. They moved to a completely foreign country all by themselves and leave behind their loved ones so they can make money and send it back home, ensuring their loved ones can benefit from it (their sacrifice and the income). I think that qualifies.

My own selfless act is that I was basically a death doula for my bfs grandma. She was dying of liver cancer and even though his whole family is horrible and mean I went with him to check on her when we were finally told of her condition (way too late she wasn’t cognizant at all anymore)

We went in the morning and came back that night to help with the hospital bed that was suppose to be delivered. I think because her daughter her grandson and me were finally all there together she finally started to let go. I remember her daughter was like almost yelling at her to wake up and can you hear me and keep fighting. It was horrible. I couldn’t stand it so even though I was terrified of her bright yellow body, I sat by her bedside. I took her hand and caressed her arm and told her that we were all there and I named everyone and I told her we loved her and we were right there with her. It was the only time she opened her eyes and she looked around the room at all of us but couldn’t say anything. I moved away for some reason and shortly after she took her death rattle breaths. 911 was called and I was the only one who knew cpr. So here I was giving cpr when I was terrified and repulsed by her body. I felt her ribs crack as I was doing it which they say is normal and to keep going. I guess you have to try and manually pump the heart really hard? I knew it wouldn’t do anything but I swallowed my fear and did it. I think it released my guilt that I refused to give my dad cpr because I was scared and 22 and he clearly was long gone unlike her.

It probably gave me more trauma and helped fragment me to the state I’m in now but I’m glad I dit it. I also asked everyone to speak to her right after she passed because I read they can still hear you for a little bit right after. And I prayed the rosary over her with them because she was raised catholic and it seemed appropriate. His grandpa was a horrible mean menace to me that day but I stayed even though I wanted to run far far away.

The most self less act I can remember was June of last year I was on a bus between milwaukee and chicago. The lady next to me went to use the bathroom and said there was a white guy overdosing, the bus was 99% black, he turned out to be a pale hispanic, I began slapping his face because I felt a pulse and when he started coming around, I told him "Bro let's flush these fucking drugs or you're getting locked up" I tossed them into the greyhound toilet. I didnt' take any of his gold off of him (1 bracelet and 1 necklace, 2 rings) I just kept shouting at him "Tyler your mom has one son" *SLAP* "TYLER TYLER* (I saw his ID in his wallet which I did not steal from)

It took outer chicago police about 25 minutes to respond and he died in my arms thinking about his mom in a greyhound bus bathroom at the side of the road.

That was very compassionate of me.
