What was it? Idk what I was doing so the whole CD was just Eminem - Shake that. My friend and I would buy CDs every week with pocket and burn them for each other.
Reminds me of Turkey w my friend when I was 13. My dad was drunk and getting a tattoo of a native American. We went to wait for him in a nightclub and that song was playing.
I ripped this junt off a cassette bootleg onto a CD
using a very complicated and retarded setup of various hardware. I did a lot more cassette recording than CD but I always tried to ultimately get it all on computer
i used to stay up late listening to electronic music on da radio and I would record cassettes and use actual like hold up to the speaker recording for some stuff
because I didn't have internet and couldn't buy CD's and I didn't always have access to burn them so I had to make do
I even made a ghetto speaker once to play things out of a broken stereo I wish I could remember all the weird techno electronic music but it's way too long ago. I have some stuff on old youtube playlists but even by then I was struggling to remember it and there maybe wasn't a lot of info online
I listened to some weird music back then , which probably explains a lot
I ended up listening to lots of european electronic techno beep boop music which looking back only really the UK stuff was good. BUT IT WAS ALL WE HAD MAN
and then when stuff like dubstep and phonk started coming out that was when I think it really came into it's own sound. Hardcore is meh I listened to PENDULUM and stuff okay but compared to some of this new stuff this is like ancient bones
Scooter is still pretty funny though
when I first heard scooter I was like I NEED A COPY OF THIS WTF. idk if I had a ghetto recorded version or a ripped youtube video or radio recording or what but yeah songs like this I would mostly record songs that were weird instead of albums and i'd rip the album online and get an Mp3 of songs.
I got a lot of music from friends too, that was a thing back then
Probably a warez CD as I was into that "scene" back then and it was the reason for buying my first CD burner...which at the time cost more than my computer.

and distributed…hence the burner which paid for itself pretty quickly. I wanna say it was about 500-600 quid which at the time was a princely sum.

Dunno….96 maybe… when they first came out for below $1000. I had it before I came to USA so that was prior to March 1997.

96 was the year i first experienced internet.
I experienced it I'm guessing around 93/94 at Manchester University as directly connected rather than through a service like Compuserve which I had at home (and they used to charge you by the minute for internet access..those fuckers charged for everything and then you had your phone line charges on top of that..so it was always "cheaper" to go to the Uni and do what you needed to do on their connection..which for me was mostly downloading .Z80 files for ZX spectrum emulators.
