   But in Turkey, and other countries around the world the elections actually have an impact on policies. If Erdogan had lost or if the CIA managed to assassinate him, it would have thrown a wrench in peace plans for Syria. So in some countries, usually the ones the US criticizes, they actually have somewhat legitimate elections. You'll never see it here though.
