be a soldier in the napoleonic wars just another cog in the machine and get wounded and spend my days making wood carvings and sustinance farming in the prussian countryside with my wife and two haggred ugly daughters that marry American men they meet from the internet
But that will never happen because we live in a hyper socialized ME ME ME snowflake society where a soldier needs to be saluted and politicized and rise through the ranks just like whenever I get a job somewhere shitty and expect I can keep my head down but everyone is amazed at a militant work ethic and says WOW REALLY GUNNING FOR THAT PROMOTION GONNA BE CEO ONE DAY HUH
like no, NO. I want to be gunning for a british cavalry charging at me, missfire my musket and lose an arm. I don't want anyone to salute me, I don't want a parade. I want to be drinking at a pub one day and mention in passing that i'm a soldier and not like a point of pride but just some shitty napoleonic conscript like "yeah I just did it for the money and lost me arm"
and that's that. Now if someone loses their arm they gotta be an arm activist and start a onlyfans or gofundme or whatever , society is sick
