Insomniacs not only do not get enough sleep (quantity), they also fail to achieve adequate continuous sleep (quality)...

Folks, sleeping a continuous 8 hours at night, versus four separate 2-hour chunks, will certainly help to increase one's jollity.

    It's DECADES since I slept 8hrs straight. I'm usually waking up ever 1.5-2hrs or so...if I get 4hrs straight it's a minor miracle.

And sleep aids typically come with negative side effects. But maybe it's time you start accepting some negative side effects, in hopes that they will be overall less damaging then the cumulative effects of sleep deprivation. I know it's not your style... but perhaps you need to seriously consider accepting cannabis in your life. Approximately what age did you start manifesting symptoms?

Sleep aids don't work with me (at least over the counter ones). melatonin whatever it's called I've gone up to 40mg and it doesn't do shit.

I'd say mid 20s it started and early 40s when it got really bad (and has remained so since).

Interesting that it didn't affect you from birth. Do you experience significant anxiety, also?

I've never knowingly suffered with anxiety.

Oh and I've tried it many times...this never did anything for me either.

I had a chum back in England who smoke and ate it like it was going out of fashion, he'd always be giving it to me to try, we'd smoke one as we walked down to Yate's wine Lodge in Swinton every Thursday night...by the time we got there he'd be giggly and shit and I'd be my usual stone cold self asking him why he was faking his behavior.

I just seem to have a high tolerance for stuff, same with drinking too...I can (re: could) drink a LOT before I get tipsy let alone drunk...even prescription drugs, my doc just took me off one last month because it wasn't doing shit for me and she couldn't understand why it wasn't working.

I'm just that miserable nothing works on me.

Wow. I'm shocked. I commend you for being open-minded and willing to try various options. I'm flabbergasted that nothing has made even the slightest impact. You seem to be virtually impervious to intoxication.
You are certainly a case study if i ever knew one. I'm sorry that these are the circumstances.

You are hard wired with a very high motor. Which benefits you in many ways but then is problematic when you cannot adequately shut it off at night. I really wish I could offer some information that could possibly help you. But i'm stumped. I want to find out more about this topic. Has any of your physicians offered up any type of diagnosis(es), or provided you with any recommendations?
