Apparently Russia's spent the last 20 years or so building a massive anti-space laser in order to defeat the J'ewish space lasers. They call it a LOL (laser-optical locator) complex and it makes use of at least two telescopes to track satellites and the precise location of their optical sensors for the laser unit to blind or damage them.
In terms of the laser itself a design document from 2014 statesA document describing the system needed to route the laser beams to the telescope (known as F-1012) says it has to be capable of transferring laser beams with a wavelength of 1.0645 microns, a power density of 0.1 gigawatts per square centimeter, a pulse length of 10 nanoseconds, and a pulse repetition rate of 3 KHz.
but I don't think it's possible to calculate the power output without knowing more about the diode itself. -
2022-07-25 at 9:04 AM UTCAlso the mobile PERESVET units - when they (quietly) rolled out most people were under the impression they were being tested as a means to shoot down missiles or artillery rounds, but the goal is to deploy them alongside high-value missile platforms (ICBMs like the SARMAT family) and have the PERESVETs blind low-orbit satellites, recon drones and planes in order to keep the launcher movements secret

a lazer that powerful is unlikely to use diodes.
theyre going to use good old fashioned electron guns. -

claims are the one, the only, and the last refuge of those who are unable to demonstrate. -
2023-04-16 at 11:37 AM UTCcongratulations, you know the definition of the word 'claim'
