Drinking myself to death at the moment but I might aswell have a laugh
For those that know this guy is sean lock when I was locked up he was always on the TV so all I can remembering is losing my shit laughing in my cell off my head on synthetics/spice
UK and European comedians are just lame by default, their standup is literally like listening to someone read jokes from a joke book, like they actually tell "jokes" akin to "why did the chicken cross the road" type stuff
It is actually kinda funny that the one UK guy who is supposedly known for being edgy and offensive and is supposed to be able "hang" with US comedians is Jimmy Carr
But if you listen to Jimmy Carr's standup, it's like you are still hearing "joke book" jokes except Jimmy dared to get the "Jokes For Big Boys" book
In general humans are afraid to say that something popular just sucks, they seek social validation, they will even answer that 2 inequality length lines are equal if everyone around them is giving the wrong answer. So if XYZ comedians say comedian A is good, it must be so. Who are you supposed to "check" against, other comedians?
Nah, shit just sucks. These are unfunny people given the title of "funny".
I don’t watch stand up much anymore because people aren’t funny like they used to be with it …
But I can say the hardest I’ve ever laughed was during Eddie Murphy stand up..
But I’m goofy so maybe that’s why .. but he was doing these sound effects of his aunt Bunny falling down some stairs 😭
And it was going on foreverrr.. then after all the falling he’s like “ oh my shoe”!
So like wth she’s only about half way down or what .. I was crying..literally my stomach was hurting it had got painful and uncomfortable like when someone force tickles you and won’t stop …

It's always different when you go to a comedy club vs watching it on TV etc. Much like any experience really the live show is always superior...though the donkey show I saw in Mexico left a lot to be desired.

Jimmy Carr's funny in small doses but his shows have no continuity, just a thousand random unconnected jokes

I really did used to think he was funny but this was at a time when my fondness for "internet humor" was at peak.
I remember he told his "most offensive joke" about sending mosquito nets to Africa to save millions of mosquitoes from dying of AIDS. The crowd OHHHHs and laughs like they just heard the craziest shit ever.
The clip came across my YT recommendations recently and I rewatched it and thought "wow this would be a decently funny 'in passing' line in the middle of a longer bit".
But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying US comedians are good. They are just a different, more egregious but slightly less lame brand of bad.
Everybody is thinking of like Eddie Murphy specials or Dave Chappelle's earlier specials.l or some shit.
But then you look at what stand up ACTUALLY is nowadays, I am talking the standard for a "successful", perhaps even "high level" working comedian, these people are fucking FOOLS who would never be able to hold down a legit job and honestly are just not funny, they are promoted specifically because they are marketable milquetoast entertainment figures who can fool a "that's nice dear" chuckle out of captive audiences.
People don't realize how shitty it is.
Vomedians will literally have this discussion on their podcasts and shit about how you literally don't even have to say something actually funny, comedy audiences have become trained to respond to the lilt and cadence of "comedy".
They actually think they are saying something good, like skilful or some shit. I remember Dana Carvey and Bill Maher talking exactly about this on Bill Maher's podcast Club Random, they are hyucking it up with each other about how you don't even have to be funny to get laughs.
Isn't that a little sick? Now when I watch standup, it is plain as day to spot once you know it is happening, and it feels like looking at a room full of mentally ill people who are forced to laugh by social pressure at unfunny shit that even their brain knows is unfunny.
