This saw select fruit and vegetables rationed in UK supermarkets, due to shortages caused by bad weather conditions in the South of Europe and Northern Africa and many growers having to cut back due to rising costs of heating greenhouses.

2023-03-28 at 5:58 PM UTCThe Fraught Negotiations Behind the New IPCC Report
Amid jockeying over edits to the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Saudi Arabia added caveats to protect fossil fuels and blocked language that stressed the limits of sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. The U.S. tried to delete a sentence about climate finance gaps and cut the word “equitable” from a line about access to international finance. China tried to cut the report’s most powerful finding from the text — that the world has 12 years to cut carbon pollution by two-thirds — but settled for putting the numbers in a table instead.

The computer would say "ERROR! PLANET IN CRITICAL DANGER! BUILD A TIME MACHINE BECAUSE NOTHING YOU DO WILL FIX WHAT YOU ALREADY STARTED LONG AGO!"
and people would just bang on the monitor a few times and say "It's obviously broken, we need more data" it's always gonna say that which is why they don't do it. The feedback loops feed each other already so even if we all stopped using cars and electricity right now the world would still go to shit in 100 years.

The wealthy see the impending collapse coming, and realize that they need extensive wealth to have hope of comfortably surviving it. They need their climate-controlled bunkers with crop fields and access to water. They need money to pay scientists and technologists to study how to stave off the worst effects of the collapse. They need to hoard food and resources and do anything to ensure their families' survival.
What they are doing is a strategic transfer of wealth from us to them at a feverish pace because they know the collapse is coming soon.

AI tools like GPT-3 are now so powerful that a few people can flood world networks with seemingly an army of journalists, social media posters and commentators all who appear legit… And the tech keeps improving rapidly..
The dissolution of social trust and traditional media that reflects a degradation of Western ideals about Democracy, truth, authority and expertise, contributing to social paralysis to respond to collapse oriented crisis. -
2023-03-28 at 10:09 PM UTCTbh it would be pretty dope to live as a PMC for a billionaire in the wealthy post apocalyptic bunkerverse. At minimum you start with guns, structure and a large "team".
Realistically though if you manage to survive "the event" that ends society in the first place as an individual or a small party, you should probably just kill yourself anyway. At least that's what I'd do, I like modern society and there's really no point to sticking around if the lights don't even turn on. Fuck "rebuilding". Rebuild what? There is almost no point to even try to survive outside of an organized structure tbh.
Doesn't matter how "prepped" you think you are, if you are just trying to survive as an individual or with a family, all your stationary preparations, stockpiles, your well, probably your wife and daughter too, will just be part of a big prize lootbox for the nearest organized force to raid and seize.
Moving a bunch of stuff in general will be a bad idea once fuel refinement stuff goes offline, maybe you could use a bike or something to pull a small trailer but again, it's just a big prize box roving around.
As an individual or small party your two options are either total and permanent secrecy for your safe haven (which itself is a whole bundle of different challenges to deal with) or just being nomadic and scrapping by day to day. What's the end goal? To have kids and then take on the task of helping them survive in the ashes of the world until they can also have kids? There is absolutely no guarantee of survival for any of you... And it will probably take at least another 500 years of absolute good fortune and coordinated rebuilding before someone figures out how to fabricate an integrated circuit again.
And again no guarantee that some great rebuilding of society will ever come to pass... More likely small pockets of civilization will continue to exist independently for a short period after TEOTWAWKI before dying of resource exhaustion.
The only actual realistic chance of something like that1 happening and surviving would be via these billionaire bunker plans. -
2023-03-29 at 5:52 PM UTCWe live in an oligarchy. Our political system exists to protect the oligarchs from the working class, by trying to trick people to participate in rigged politics where your only option is voting for a oligarch backed person, or another oligarch backed person. Nothing fundamentally changes in america without the oligarchs OK. We don't live in a democracy. The united states has a law forbidding communists to run for office, and democrats and republicans work hard to engage in third party voter suppression. Politics are a distraction to keep you from using your labor to hurt the oligarchs. It makes people think "maybe I dont have to strike because maybe I can play in the political system designed by and for oligarchs and maybe I can change something!" not realizing that you won't ever get actual fundamental changes from playing by the rules of their system.
Our power is in labor, not in bourgeoise politics that are rigged, and are merely a distraction to keep you from doing what would actually change things - no longer participating in this american system by doing a mass nationwide indefinite strike, backed by mutual aid networks to force the capitalists out. -

Jews invented communism to keep the masses angry about the successful capitalist economic system in such a way that it continues to enrich only the Jews.
The economic troubles of the working class are not caused by an economic system, it is caused by real decisions made by real people. Jewish people.
This is why they are known as parasites. -

Not all Jewish people. In fact, Jewish oligarchs even eat their own.
