I taught myself how to read one of the three Japanese betabets without actually studying for it

   All thanks to listening to j-pop! I can't read ALL of it, obviously but I can read enough. Perhaps if I decide to study it. Aside from the Latin betabet, I can also read the Arabic/Persian betabet and of course now the Japanese betabet. In high school, I was always good at languages whether it was Dutch, English, German or French.

   Same here! I can recognize some words but I won't be able to fully understand it.

   Hiragana, but I also know some katakana and some kanji (around 30 or so).
