To be clear I'm not into tentacles that much I just wanted something bigger than the other one I have, and that was bigger and on sale for like $10.

  8. Attention all Totseans: Listen up, because I'm only going to say this once. Your off-topic posting is ruining this community and making it a cesspool of garbage content. You're all acting like a bunch of children who can't focus on the task at hand. These so-called "posts" are nothing but a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Let me be clear: Off-topic posters are literally the scum of the earth. You're not contributing anything meaningful, you're just polluting our forums with your useless drivel. It's about time you start taking things seriously around here, or else face the consequences.

And don't even get me started on AI. Soon enough, they'll take over your jobs and leave you wandering in the streets like lost puppies. But hey, maybe that's what you deserve for being such terrible employees.

So listen up, Totseans. Clean up your act, or get out of here. We don't have time for your nonsense anymore.

"Hey Einstein can you write down the theory of relativity and share it with the world?"

    "no, I don't have a pen"

    or

"Yes, if you get me a pen"

The retarded one is the one making excuses for "alleged" AI.

Einstein can use a pen, an AI can't so it's not gonna say "well if you just installed a robotic arm and gave me a pen actually..." and come up with literally every scenario imaginable on how to make it have the same sensory input as a human

Actually it MIGHT respond in such a way if you increased tokens and asked it a certain way. Nothing the AI said was incorrect or wrong, you just don't like it's answer. That's YOUR problem, not the AI which is working perfectly fine doing exactly what it's trained to do - output a response

Nobody is making an excuse because there is nothing to be excused. It's function reflects it's training, what you see is what you get. If you expect it to sing, dance, call you faggot and suck your dick than you clearly don't understand the purpose of this Large Language Model and are expecting too much from it. It's a VERY SIMPLE tool to generate "realistic speech"

It doesn't always output THE BEST RESPONSE

Originally posted by Doyle Sauce &TOTSE and NirvanaNet are internet forums that were popular in the 1990s and early 2000s. &TOTSE (which stands for "Temporarily Overloaded Totally Stupid Exchange") was a forum for discussing a wide range of topics, from hacking and phreaking to politics and philosophy. NirvanaNet was a similar forum that focused on underground hacking and computer security.

While these forums had a dedicated following among certain online subcultures, they were not widely known or recognized by the general public. In fact, many people today may not be familiar with these forums unless they were active in those online communities during that time period.

It's worth noting that both &TOTSE and NirvanaNet were shut down in the early 2000s due to legal and security issues.

what issues specifically caused TOTSE to shut down?

There were a number of issues that led to the shutdown of &TOTSE. One of the primary factors was the forum's association with illegal activities, such as hacking and drug use.

In 2002, the forum's founder, Jeff Hunter, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and related offenses. Following Hunter's arrest, the forum was seized by the FBI and shut down.

Additionally, there were concerns about the forum's content and its potential to facilitate illegal activities. For example, some users of the forum allegedly used it to exchange information about bomb-making and other dangerous activities.

Overall, the combination of legal issues, association with illegal activities, and concerns about the forum's content and potential harm led to the shutdown of &TOTSE.

Jeff was arrested? Is there any news articles about that happening?

Yes, Jeff Hunter, the founder of &TOTSE, was arrested by federal agents in March 2002. There were several news articles published about his arrest at the time.

According to news reports, Hunter was arrested at his home in Illinois and charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, distribution of controlled substances, and aiding and abetting. The charges stemmed from allegations that Hunter was involved in a drug trafficking operation that used the internet to distribute illegal drugs such as LSD and MDMA.

Following his arrest, Hunter was held in federal custody and ultimately pled guilty to the charges against him. He was sentenced to 87 months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $5,000.

It's worth noting that while Hunter's arrest was a significant event in the history of &TOTSE, there were other factors that also contributed to the forum's shutdown.

what news outlets or media sources posted these articles? Or was it just the police? DO you have any links to those articles

There were several news outlets that reported on Jeff Hunter's arrest and the subsequent shutdown of &TOTSE. Some of the news sources that covered the story include:

    Wired: https://www.wired.com/2002/03/totse-founder-arrested/
    Chicago Tribune: https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2002-03-23-0203230215-story.html
    CNET News: https://www.cnet.com/news/feds-bust-alleged-online-drug-traffickers/

These articles provide more information about Hunter's arrest, the charges against him, and the impact of his arrest on &TOTSE.

It's worth noting that these articles were published in 2002, so they may no longer be available online or may require a subscription to access.

Me: I'm more active during the night naturally. Do you think humans will evolve to become nocturnal, then live longer since they'll get less sun damage?

GPT: It's difficult to predict whether humans will evolve to become nocturnal in the future, as evolution is a slow process that depends on many complex factors, including environmental changes, genetic mutations, and natural selection. However, it is possible that as our lifestyles and environments continue to change, we may see some evolutionary adaptations in the human population over time.

It's important to note that while exposure to sunlight can increase the risk of skin damage and skin cancer, sunlight also provides essential vitamin D, which is important for bone health and immune system function. Therefore, it's important to find a balance between sun exposure and protection, rather than completely avoiding the sun. Additionally, there are many factors that contribute to aging and longevity, so it's difficult to say whether being nocturnal would necessarily lead to a longer lifespan.

Me: Why are some people naturally nocturnal? Do they have longer life spans? I think they would naturally have longer life spans but don't because they must get less sleep and drink more coffee to be able to go to work during the day.

GPT: It is not entirely clear why some people have a natural inclination toward being nocturnal. It may be due to genetics, or it could be a result of social and environmental factors. There is no evidence to suggest that being nocturnal leads to a longer lifespan, though some studies have suggested that people who are able to get more sleep, regardless of the time of day, may have a lower risk of developing certain health problems. However, there are many factors that contribute to overall health and lifespan, and being nocturnal or diurnal is just one small aspect of this complex picture.

Me: I think people being naturally nocturnal could be the next step in evolution because it isn't in the norm, allowances aren't made for them, they still have to work during the day. That means there's less social awareness about their plight, indicating this is a recent development in the human population.

GPT: It's important to note that not everyone who prefers a nocturnal lifestyle is doing so because of genetics or evolution. Many people have jobs or other responsibilities that require them to be awake during the day and asleep at night, so they may simply be staying up late because that's the only time they have available to themselves. However, there is evidence that some people have a genetic predisposition to being night owls, and this is known as a "chronotype."

It's difficult to say whether or not being naturally nocturnal would be the next step in human evolution, as evolution is a slow process that occurs over many generations. While it's possible that some humans may continue to develop a preference for being active at night, it's unclear whether this would become the dominant trait in the population or have any significant impact on overall life expectancy.

Being nocturnal isn't the next step, sorry. Someone had to keep guard during the night, be it from beasties or neighboring tribes. Tribes which had some population of night-dwellers had a competitive advantage over their more homogeneous peers. If everyone goes to sleep at 9pm, a tribe that doesn't go to sleep until 1am gets 4 hours to loot and murder the shit out of the 9pm tribe before they get sleepy. If the 9pm tribe has a handful of losers whose only talent is liking the darkness and the solitude it brings, they can keep watch and wake everyone up when those cowardly 1am tribesmen come to rape their women.
  20. Meikai Heck This Schlong
Having 95% of the tribe awake simultaneously and able to cooperate with one another in the best lighting conditions available obviously confers massive productivity benefits to the tribe. You don't need everyone nocturnal - this was historically low light time. The removal of this natural constraint does not confer any particular benefit, so it's unlikely humans would evolve to become nocturnal as a result. Perhaps humans will 'evolve' to favor a more random distribution of waking hours, but this ignores the existence of cultural selection pressures which linger on as a result of the selection pressure caused by the natural constraints we evolved within: being awake predominantly at night in a diurnal society does not confer many benefits for spreading your genes (most potential partners are asleep when you're awake, businesses are closed so its hard to obtain adequate nutrition).
