Whatever you choose, avoid ink jet. Cartridges are shit and dry out. You won’t have that issue with toner. -

I have a HP laser printer for regular b/w printing, the inkjet is just for when I need color and two sided color copies...ie when I'm printing a PDF manual or such.
Laser is the way to go if you don't need color.
I got a HP laser printer for $20 from Goodwill computer outlet, it's been solid for 3yrs.
