Who remembers Tradwars on BBS?

   Recent talk of BBSes reminding me of this great BBS game. A google of it shows it's still active. I remember getting up early before going to work so I could get my moves in, my biggest rival on the BBS I frequented to play it was a chick with the handle of "fifi"...I ended up meeting her for an overnighter in Coventry and boning her in the hotel we got. We went to watch Trainspotting at the movies first, got some KFC on the way back to the hotel and then did the do.
   
   Anyway, anyone remember/played it?

   I never played a BBS game in my life but I have been reading a lot about tem. Do you have any insights as to the hardware and software and stuff about the game. You drop to doors and that means disconnect from the BBS? Because A lot of the stuff I find says yes it plays from the cache, you can only play one game or something if it's like a turn based game
   
   so basically like a game of risk but each computer is taking turns, and through a phone line. I guess that makes sense idk it's hard for me to visualize because the "early internet" for me was dialup which was just the internet, this one.
   
   I think I found the modern software equivalent of what a BBS or direct to computer system is like, as these are both "portals/doors"

   The software was all server side for tradewars...hardware I expect was nothing special as it was text/ascii based and you'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of people on the average BBS at one time.
   
   I recall the one I played it on was run by a dude and his old lady in Blackburn UK and had a user connection limit of about 10.
   
   After I'd banged "fifi" the BBS had a "meetup" but I didn't go because "fifi" asked me not to attend because her "Brother"( husband) was going to be there with her and she felt her sexual attraction to me might betray herself.
   
   The game though was really fun and addictive. It totally sucked waking up, logging on and finding you and fighters had been totally destroyed overnight by someone else.

   Once you get a lot of cash/fighters etc you could buy a planet and a bunker and hide your ship in it during your offline time, it would take a powerful player to come along and destroy your planet but obviously it happened...that sucked even harder when it did.
   
   I worked my way up the leaderboard from the bottom to the top in a few months but it took a lot of time to maintain that position for long as everyone was then after your ass...and just when you thought your were untouchable in your planetary bunker...someone would wipe you out.
