When Armageddon happens, you could run a BBS network on the current power grid. Wouldn't even need the Internet or phone lines.

Yeah I was thinking that BBS tek door drops + meshnet + ring signature cryptography + p2p networking would basically solve the byzantine generals problem without having some giant creepy Ethereum virtual machine swallow up every computer into one singular network, instead each should be a mesh, not a subnode proof of steak in a network but their own node or part of a hivemind of nodes. Not only for recreational purposes does this have potential but I'm thinking this could work as a global financial system making it impossible for anyone to get their assets seized. There is a company doing something VERY similar but taking the ETH route instead of a proof of work system, which I guess doesn't really make a difference but idk just isn't very exciting to me, they are just becoming big tek company 3.0 web8. Also untracable drug markets ON THE BBS ON THE MESHNET

    THAT WOULD NEVER WORK!!

this company has barely put anything to market and is one of the most top valued tech companies right now 👀

"We’re excited to be joining the Chainlink SCALE program to provide our ecosystem of developers with access to the industry standard for oracle services, enabling a next generation of globally scalable Web3 applications to be built on StarkNet,” said StarkWare co-founder and President Eli Ben-Sasson in a press release."

    Could be that...doubtful but possible.

After all, vinyl outsells CDs now...and cassettes are making a comeback too.

CDs are honestly trash for music, they can get fucked as bad as cassettes which only got fucked because literally EVERYTHING was put on it but I remember those things were durable.

I never had a cassette get as wonky as some CDs ive owned. Idk I have been reading about meshnets for weeks now and just learned about "door dropping" BBS tech which has basically never been used anywhere else, and I'm just sitting here like ummmm.... wait a sec....

You can just download a website and run a page offline with cached code?

the only thing I've seen come close to that kind of neat tech is something like making an NFT playable in a browser which according to my understanding of modern code this should not work, but it does. Most browsers and online shit is busted as hell and hardly ever works because they gotta run 16000 google ads... gay as fuck. Just let me download the page I don't need 10000quadrillion jiggabit to view this piece of shit.. listening to youtube might not work but yeah theres alwaysa better way even if its been done before, it aint been done like this!

As a system operator, it is easy to overlook the inherently
tyrannical aspects of even the simplest computer. Conceived as
manipulators of numbers, computers did not come into their own
until they could sort and store large quantities of ordinary
    information.

The largest user of computing power in the world today is the
National Security Agency, or NSA. With a budget more than that of
the FBI and the CIA combined, it is the job of the NSA to keep
track of "threats to national security". These are the folks who
intercepted that lovely little phone call that linked the bombing
of a Disco in West Germany and Kaddafy. What do they do, really?
three things: they gather, store, and collate information. They use
    computers to do it.

It is not the mission of a Bulletin Board to be a small NSA, but
the capability is there. On most boards throughout the nation,
users are requested to input all kinds of information. Names, "Use
REAL NAMES ONLY! NO HANDLES!" And phone numbers, "The system will
call you back. Hang up now." Often other information as well. What
kind of computer do you have? How old are you? Sex? SEXUAL
ORIENTATION?(!) How long have you had a modem? Where do you live,
WHAT'S YOUR ADDRESS? WHAT'S YOUR RACE? Amazing that anyone even
logs onto any boards anywhere. Many folks lie. Even worse, many
    don't.
