i can afford the fridge, just not the power to run it.

you know what they say about buying a man a fridge, and he would have a fridge for one day.

    pay his utility bills ......

its due to the massive US FED money printing during the 2008-09 economic collapse that led to world wide gentrification in a lot of places, not just ireland.

lots of foreign capital started to flood everywhere.

Can't you rig up an old bicycle to a car alternator and have one of your family peddle for ice all day? I thought you Asians were supposed to be innovative.

car alternators do not generate electricity without electricity inputs.

wouldnt it be more efficient by linking the bicycle directly to the fridge compressor instead ?

    I dunno, never tried

assumed you needed power to other components as well

No dummy, you wouldn't be getting clean power...Aldras way is how you set it up...the alternator is bascially charging a block of batteries which in turn go through an inverter to give the correct voltage out the fridge needs...just the same setup as a solar operation...you don't directly hook up your solar panels to your TV

    not really.

as long as the gas is circulating the fridge will work and convection inside the fridge will take care of everything else.

  13. Yeah, that's what I thought

What happens when you run low voltage to a refrigerator?

Depending on your particular refrigerator and its tolerance for low voltage, there are 3 possible outcomes: 1. The frig will run on it. 2. The frig will open its circuit protection and stop, but will recover. 3. The frig will burn out because the low voltage was insufficient to start it. It’s best to keep your voltage in the tolerance that your appliances like.

turning the compressor mechanically directly doesnt involve voltages of any kind.

There is more to a modern fridge than just mechanical
