Just got this last night:
Torn City is an exciting, gritty, real-life text based game. Text-based games are addictive and great fun to play. Torn City is no exception!
New players start off weak and poor. Beware, the murky underworld of Torn City shows no mercy so be on your guard from the off. Opportunists will not think twice to mug or hospitalize you for a few bucks. As an online crime RPG game, the rules are very simple; Build a new life. Get to the top. Avoid being killed. Choose any route to get there. In Torn City you can be ANYONE and do ANYTHING.
To earn money and increase your status you'll need to get your hands dirty, commit crimes and attack other players. The stronger you are the more battles you win so prepare to train hard to become the best.
Other game features include starting or joining a faction, collecting and trading items, invest in Torn City stocks, avoid jail and hospital, undertake missions, race cars, get married, get a job or start a company, take education courses, win big in the casino, play poker, invest in the bank, shop for items, program viruses, read or write for the Torn City Times newspaper, buy multiple properties, travel, hunt... The list is endless, but there's plenty of help in the Torn Wiki.
Torn City is one of the largest text based RPG's online with tens of thousands of active daily players. Like most indie MMORPGs, Torn City is deep and constantly evolving with feature rich updates, so there's always something new to discover.
I know I'm pretty late in this old ass thread but I've been playing torn for about a month or so now, gotta say I'm really getting into it it's pretty fun and I'm not much of a gamer honestly. It's a pretty cool way to kill time.

It was sort of addicting. But it also sort of made me feel like I was pushing a really heavy rock up a hill that had no crest, and that I would be doing it forever. I had to stop playing because of that.

I got back into GTA online lately.
you should check out skyblock the largest MMORPG server in miencraft hypixel.net, it's a pretty cool game, you start with nothing but a tree, water, lava and you have to build everything by hand and grind resources to build up your small island in the sky from nothing. it's basically the same gameplay as runescape they combined classic skyblock and made a bunch of hub worlds
they even have versions where you can't leave your island, there's CO-OP islands and leaderboards too

GTA online is AIDS unless you play in closed sessions with friends. It was a lot more fun in the early days of online when we didn't have flying rocket bikes and shit like that.
they added new stuff but the community is pretty pissed about that and now they gotta delay gta6 cuz of da leaks, fucking rockstar man they really suck now

They don't have to delay because of leaks, they just want any excuse to not do it and keep milking 5 over and over.

I only play in public lobbies, for the fights.
I only sell in public lobbies, for the bonus cash.
I'm level 446, I've got about 50 million in the game and it was pretty much all passive income, it is so easy to pull in money these days. I have basically all the good shit already, there are still a few things I would like to buy but waiting for sales.
I grief private lobbies in skyblock. If you warp someone in a private lobby it makes it public so when I stumble upon one I will go on my girlfriends computer and log into her account, warp her in and then say "GG" in chat as it gets flooded with players
