In general circulation, the term "pedophilia" is used to refer to intercourse with anyone under the age of consent, regardless of the level of physical or mental development. The Polish Penal Code, however, does not define anything such as "the crime of pedophilia" or "pedophilia act" - these terms are not included in it. Thus, we are simply dealing with a colloquial use of the word that imprecisely conveys its intended meaning - as in the case of "dyslexia" (a term most often used in the meaning of "dysorthography"), or "temporary ID card" (an ID card valid for 5 years instead of the usual 10 ). Pedophilia is not a legal or criminal term. In Poland, crimes commonly understood as “pedophile acts” are described in Article 200 of the Penal Code (more on this below).
