   Mopeds have around 5 liter/1.32 gal tanks and like 100km range per tank.
   
   In the US gas is under $3.10/gal currently. So on average it costs ~$4.1 for a fill-up from empty. So $1000 can buy around 243 fill-ups and around 24,300 km. So unless you can't make do travelling less than (on average) 200km every 3 days, it should be enough.
   
   If not then that means you are travelling over 24,300 KM per year on a moped, thus your life sucks and you should just kill yourself.
