Was just thinking about some stuff after I saw a meme on Facebook and I posted this comment with it.
What I didn't say was the only kids who couldn't do book fair was 3 black kids and me and other white kids would call me a poor nigger and you know for kids fitting in is everything
It was the same three black kids I had to sit at a table with while the whole class made mugs for Father's Day with DAD written on them and here I am with the black kids who didn't have a dad.
10 out of 10 fucked up.
What I posted on FB:
I don't think they should do scholastic book fairs because it was pretty fucked up watching almost every kid get stuff for 45 minutes year after year. I set this so my family can't see it because I don't want them to feel bad. I don't think low income kids should have to experience that every year for the school to make money in the richest county in Wisconsin.

Whole class would be excited for their cool pencils, erasers, stationary, good books, posters for their room, and my broke ass got to watch kids talking with their friends about what to get, budgeting their money, and there I am holding 2$ wondering if I want lunch for the week (.40 cent reduced cost lunch) or buy something. In second grade I made the mistake and really regretted it for five days.

A lot of the bad shit that I suffered in life I deserved but some of the shit that happened to me as a child really fucked me up as a person and the scholastic book fair was the first time I really understood I was dirt fucking poor and the world knew it and laughed at me, a poor white nigger kid.

When I was in 8th grade I got suspended because I had a notebook with horribly drawn pictures of the school being blown up by a bomb and then did a detailed drawing of how the bomb would look and operate.

In grade school we went to visit a local old folks home as a field trip on Halloween, and I was going as Freddy Krueger. I had the glove with the claws and they wouldn't let me take it with me, and my teacher called the glove claws "nine inch nails"

Aww i feel bad for u brad.
I was one of the kids who thought the book fair had shit books but i had already read a ton of Jules Verne and 'adult' books by like 3rd grade (20,000 leagues under the sea was my fav) so i skipped all the goosebump books and bullshit and just bought a couple car posters.
I went to catholic school tho so everyone had money to get what they wanted rly.
I remember kids getting so excited when i didnt really give 2 fuxs about it.

We only made fun of other kids shoes ...i usually gave my friends money for the book fair...
Shoes was the big thing in the 90s when i was in elementary school...we called peoples shoes starburst or we'd whisper *Everlast* behind them... Everlast was a payless shoe brand...
But i got my karma when we went to camp and i asked my dad to get me some shoes for camp and he got me some Richard Simmons work out shoes...
I masturbated...but i never made fun of anyone's shoes again...
