It is one of my favorite series. I used to play it splitscreen with my friends on xbox. We would make bases in the map editor and try to raid each other.
People talk a lot of shit on Farcry 2 but it's my favorite game in the series for how retarded it is. The intro the best intro in all of video games

This and Farcry 2 set the bar pretty high though

Today I started a new playthrough, it's pretty good. -

3 was how I got into the series, but Primal is one of my all time favorites, really like the setting in that one. They even created an entire cave-man language for it, with three different regional dialects.
5 has been good, neat idea having it set in Montana fighting militant cultists. I enjoy the concept of these games, they are all basically the same shit. Enemies take over an area, you as the main character lead a resistance to fight back. I really enjoy trying to take over enemy outposts as stealthily as possible. -

Haven't played 6 so I can't compare. But I've really enjoyed 3, primal, and 5. The basic concept is the same in each game but they all have their own stories too. -

The original one was..as it was…original and the Crytek engine at the time was cutting edge.
Most "modern" games are crappy rehashes.
IME, they have improved the game with each version and offered a variety of different settings and stories while maintaining the same basic elements.

yeah rehashes...rehashes are not astounding.
Nothing that hasn't been done before..with a few tweaks to it.
There are/have been moments of brilliance usually followed by 1 or 2 decades of trying to reproduce that same moment but failing.
Other examples Would be Doom and Unreal, when those first came out they were stand out amazing...rehashes are...rehashes.
