There is NOTHING you can learn at school that you can't learn yourself...the information is readily available, none of it is held secret by the schools.

Sure for certain jobs a certification from a school maybe required (such as your mentioned Xray thing) but that doesn't mean a person who has been to college for 4yrs knows more than someone who has studied the subject personally for 20yrs...quite the opposite.

The pursuit of knowledge isn't about what job it can get you...if that's all you are going to school for then you'll never be as knowledgeable as a person who does it for the passion of learning.

Tired old cliche but... Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Micheal Dell etc etc...all school dropouts...you don't need a formal education to be the best or successful in your field of interest.

Astronomy is a great example of a science where the amateurs continue to make discoveries and contributions from simply doing the work themselves from their own backyards with their own equipment and education.

That's what Jeff hunter claimed that all information should be free

I mean yeah ideologically I agree with all of that but realistically certain information you are going to have to pay an institution at some point for something and they also offer hands on training so you should just stop making excuses and pick up that phone

"It's truly important work, and so sad that such a repository could be lost or locked away due to greed, selfishness, and pursuit of power,” one Reddit user commented on r/DataHoarder. “We are at a point in time where humanity could do so very much with the resources and knowledge that we have if it were only organized and accessible to all instead of kept under lock and key and only allowed access by a tiny percentage of the 8 billion people on this planet.”

The career development course I took said otherwise but I see what you're saying. I've kinda had this mentality most of my life and so did the people at that course but they really convinced me , their ideology was trying new things is the most important and most of them had not planned to be career councilors but because they tried new things they found a career they love and do it full time now

Yep again, education isn't...or rather SHOULDN'T..be about what job it can get you...bettering yourself doesn't equate to how much $$$ you can earn as a anesthesiologist.

Bettering the self > your job title.

i just checked the prices of these sinclairs and adjusted for inflation they cost less today than when they first came out in the early 80s.

i hope you restore them for the sake of restoration for posterity rather than for money.

I think my mom has this problem, she's pretty unhappy with what she does in life and always going back to school trying to get certified in this or that or get some fancy paper and I always tell her that She doesn't need any institution to prove anything

But I can see where shes coming from when you are going for a big fancy big name forbes top 100 company career you don't want to go in there with a degree from the University of American Samoa and an aromatherapy certificate from devry versus a butler named JEEVES applying for a MASTER butler job and he went to The International Butler Academy

it doesn't matter if you are the most passionate self learned butler ever you will never be JEEVES which is what our economy demands

Poor vinny imagine being an Asian and not understanding the concept of buying low and selling high

    Other recent examples.

Amiga 500, bought for 50 sold for 350
Amiga 2000, bought for 70 sold for 380
Anki Vector bought for 40 sold for 140

If she's thinking the key to happiness is a job she's gravely mistaken and will remain unhappy.

Nah just unhappy with that career aspect of her life it seems and that her talents and skills aren't being used to their fullest , I have always wanted to "be my own boss" but she is more like you where she doesn't seem all that interested in having to do all that to make a living at least, i dunno, life is weird.

I just found out that both California and Nevada have something called a School Impact Fee

35,000 dollars on top of building a house. fucking hell. and it's being adopted by most states now. it's almost cheaper to buy an existing house than a minimalist home.

how much is your monthly mortgage, Fona?

Seems like a way to use taxpayer money to incentivize people into letting corporations buy all the land around them

and they'll be exempted from having to pay since they'll use it for farming land but really just hold onto it.

the thing to do is charge corporations 50 thousand a year per acre for schools and public road repair or infrastructure to curb of this behavior. but of course, Politicians won't.

meanwhile, they are chasing out every HQ based in San Francisco and running to Austin Texas.

the Politicians are chasing away all that money generated. soon there will be no money for the homeless they want to take care of and back out on the street they will go but soon no free money to give them for their heroine. no food stamps.

    watch robberies rise soon afterwards
