Florida bans puberty blockers and gender transition surgeries for minors
The move comes amid Gov. Ron DeSantis’ push to end gender transition procedures in Florida for minors as part of a sweeping offensive against woke ideology. The ban also includes cross-sex hormones.

The Florida Board of Medicine and the state’s Board of Osteopathic Medicine passed a vote on Friday to ban puberty blockers and transgender sex re-assignment surgeries for minors.
The move comes amid Gov. Ron DeSantis’ push to end gender transition procedures in Florida for minors as part of a sweeping offensive against woke ideology.
In June, Gov. Ron DeSantis outlined his pro-parent “DeSantis Education Agenda,” detailing a “student-first, parent-centered initiative focused on setting Florida’s children up for success, ensuring parental rights in education, and combating the woke agenda from infiltrating public schools.”
The vote passed the Florida Board of Medicine by 6 to 3 on Friday afternoon, and explicitly bans doctors from prescribing puberty blockers and hormones or performing surgeries on any patients under the age of 18, with exceptions for patients already on the treatment, National Review reported.
The Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine also passed a ban on the use of puberty blockers and sex re-assignment surgery in minors, providing a small exception for children enrolled in clinical studies.
Florida is one of nine states that ban the use of Medicaid coverage in paying for gender transition procedures and services.
National Review reported:
“The chief point of agreement among all of the experts — and I must emphasize this — is that there is a pressing need for additional, high-quality clinical research,” said the board of medicine’s chair, Dr. David A. Diamond, a radiation oncologist.
Gender transition services have come under scrutiny in Europe, where the procedures are being suspended or banned altogether for minors. As reported by Rebel News, NHS England moved to shutter the Tavistock gender clinic after a year-long review found that it was “not a safe or viable long-term option,” and that children were being railroaded into the procedures after as few as a single consultation.
Children who expressed gender confusion were often prescribed puberty blockers.
The review, led by pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, found that the NHS mistreated young people who were questioning their gender identity and issued a series of recommendations for a radical overhaul of the service.
The doctor found that Tavistock’s Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) clinic at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust was “not a safe or viable long-term option” and that mental health issues presenting in children were “overshadowed” when the issue of gender was raised by kids who were referred to the facility.

I never thought of myself as male because I’ll never give the male species credit for mind but I was confused about the traits I had. I’m glad I’m a female but it sounds like something out of a horror movie to alter your body as a teen then wake up to a nightmare a few years later when you’ve changed your mind. One of my friends wanted to cut off her tits. It still bothers me when I want to buy shorts they’re all really short, few knee length ones for women.

The thing is, when I see her I am certain that if she thought she was actually helping these children she would switch to a different line of work.

2022-11-04 at 11:51 PM UTCI’m worried about kids who may relate to one trait of the opposite sex and forming false views of themselves because once you focus on a label you liken yourself to it more and more and they’re still discovering who they are. Although I feel like we might need a bit more nuance for this to be unalloyed good - this is maybe a slight overcorrection. Like there is probably an age under 18 where puberty blockers are minimally harmful but still very useful for preventing further unwanted masculinization/feminization. Even something simple like "no surgery until 18, but you can start blockers at 16" might do the trick.

2022-11-05 at 3:10 PM UTCI mean 18 isn't that bad, but the wait definitely do be seeming kind of unnecessary. Then again, Florida is in the minority of states where the age of consent is actually 18, so this is at least consistent with their other age/maturity legislation.

it's a complicated thing, but fucked up kids is not a new phenomenon, people be weird. -

I have and never will fire this 1911 as I have 5 others. One of them is a Kimber and the other 4 are from Para-Ordinance. Para make a high quality firearms at a competitive price. As good as a kimber or desert eagle at a more competitive price.
As for the Desert Eagle .50AE you do understand that us a different round than a .60 BMG right? It's not really that much more bang for the buck when you compare costs. .50 AE will run you $2.00 per round and up. Whole .45 ACP can found for less that $0.40 per round. -
