In August 2006 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of “dwarf planet.” This means that from now on only the rocky worlds of the inner Solar System and the gas giants of the outer system will be designated as planets.

Eris is almost exactly as big as Pluto, so it'd have to be at least 10 planets. Might as well throw in Ceres at that point and make it 11. Do you want there to be 11 planets? You got a fondness of Kabbalah? You a shylock or something?
(And of course these are just the ones we know about. There could be 100 more, and I ain't living in no "134 planet solar system".)

does it have to do with the curvature of the horizon is such a short distance you can traverse it without flying off the end and into space?
what makes it a Dwarf? what makes it different? its a planet because it has an orbit of the sun. it doesn't orbit other planets. so it's not a moon. but it's the size of our own Earth's moon.
Is there a serious reason for scientists to say this? -
