ate and had coffee. that cleared me right out. Took a big nasty wet shit and now I don't feel so ick. but yesterday I felt like hurling a few times. actually threw up bile
ready to smoke some weeeeed tonight. -

You haven't been able to do that at any retailer since 1993 with the passage of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act. Among other things it established the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) which only allows retail sales by federal firearms licensees (FFL) who are required by the Brady Act to run a NICS background check on all purchases.
NICS can return 3 possible results. Approved, in which case the sale is processed immediately.
Delayed, which means the information supplied matches a record searched by NICS and further investigation is required. In the case of a delay the FBI has ten days to complete this. If no determination is made within 10 days the weapon is released for sale by the FFL.
Denied means the record shows a firearm prohibition. The person is not told why and must go through a mountain of red tape for an answer as to why or to appeal the determination.
You can however sell and purchase firearms freely between private citizens so long as you can demonstrate a good faith belief that the buyer is not a prohibited person or in the case of a purchase that the weapon is not stolen. -

Thinking of just a shotgun for home defense. just in case shtf or I keep it secured in a hidden place until needed. quick access. like a push panel in the wall or latched under the bed. but not fully loaded. I would check it daily to make sure it's not pumped action (activated?) hot round in the chamber. or whatever. keep it hidden from HER

You can load a shotgun (not a single or double barrel shot) with the chamber rounds. but it doesn't fully load until you pull the pump back and one enters the chamber itself.
like a side feeder that holds the rounds until you pull that pump back. but you can also unload it that way by keep pumping the rounds without pulling the trigger.
so it's loaded but with the safety on and without pumping it you're ok. we have no kids here. but I should probably put a lock on it. or a lock box with 5 digit press release. Im sure they make them for shotguns.
